Thanks @jenniet04 the multipliers for bmi over 25 are 1.2 for non-workout days and 1.4 on workout days which gives 1670 on non-workout days and 1947 on workout days. Does that seem right? I think I'll go with the initial calories and see how it goes.

Sorry I've rechecked (using fat2fit BMR calculator) and it takes me to BMR not below, but still this seems to contradict what the book says. Any more thoughts I'm 38, 5'2" and 183lb if this helps.

Hi Alli, only you can say if you are lifting heavy enough. If you are tired at the end of each set and struggling through the last couple of reps, then yes. If not up the weight but stay aware of good form. Sorry can't help with the food as I'm trying to get that in order myself, book has me on 2084 cal on non-lifting days…

I'm obese and started last week. The way I read it was that the muscle burns more calories than fat, so you will continue to burn fat while lifting, all sounds good to me as I much prefer lifting to cardio. Feel free to add me, I'm happy to share progress and boost you along :flowerforyou:
