  • Great idea. Would definitely help with mindful eating
  • I exercise at home and have a carpet, so I exercise with socks on, never barefoot, thought I would if I could. I find that sneakers and rugs don't mix for cardio
  • I had to break out my Tae Bo and JM dvds... I still walk in the bitter cold, just bundled up. But I don't mess with ice. I saw someone jogging last night and I thought how crazy it seemed.
  • People scoff because you say that you are going on a diet and studies have shown that many diets don't work. I told the people around me that I am trying to be healthier and lose weight. How are you going to do that? By making healthier choices and leave it at that..... I found that most ppl could get behind that because…
  • Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (which I found on you tube). Also her No more trouble zones. Tae Bo Ripped extreme is intense. Also Shape magazine has some good ones. I ended my gym membership due to financial reasons, so I feel you. Also power walking for 30 mins a day helps as well
  • I would never think to do that, but it's a good idea. The last bar I went to, I had rum and diet, but I don't mind drinking soda once in a while
  • Yeah I can see that not going well, lol. I find that people don't really want to know what to do. Because at a certain point it is just common sense... I have an acquaintance that is willing to travel to another country next year to get lipo and tummy tuck rather than stop eating cake in the morning and chips and pizza. I…
  • Thanks for ALL the comments guys!! It has really helped me put this issue into perspective
  • God bless you for this comment. I've learned to deal with the harshness, but venting here is still better than venting to ppl that are not trying to lose weight, although next time I may just keep it to my friends wall. That's how I feel too, that it's just not worth it sometimes to go out. Plus I find that when I say no,…
  • THANKS!! Good advice. I honestly haven't had a talk with them. They know that I have lost a bit of weight, but they don't know that I am still actively trying to lose more. I think if they did, they would be more supportive, especially since they want to lose weight as well. I also need to work on my self control so it…
  • I get that. Unfortunately I am not there yet. I was there a few months ago, but after gaining a few pounds back, it seems my resolve has gone away. I guess I have to work on my resolve and getting my goals in check again.
  • Hmmmm is that what I said???
  • That's a good idea. I was thinking of going to a museum and coffee tomorrow instead of dinner and drinks. I love hiking, just have to find places to do it.
  • Good points. But I am definitely not going to wait until I am mentally ready because the scale will just continue to go up. I know this is for life, but I have heard of ppl that limit who they hang with for these reasons. I know myself and it can lead to a downward spiral. And I'd have to disagree that other's food habits…
  • You are right. My stomach gets distended after I eat and as soon as I have an ounce of alcohol it ALL goes to hell. It's like my body gives up holding it in. For me, I think it's mental or I need to do planks before each meal. But I never get nauseous. Seriously, go to a GI specialist or your PCP to see whet is going on .
  • This..except I would add the word thunder to my thighs, lol
  • Same here. At 238, I was a size 16w and at 189, I am a size 14 or regular 16. And on a bad day, I am squeezing into those 14s. It is frustrating, but it really takes time and you need to be patient. There will be a point where you start seeing changes, if anything take pictures. When I saw some older and current pics of…
  • Feel free to add me definitely looking for new friends. I find my friends really motivating but some have disappeared
  • I don't think so. I am 5'2 and 189, my BMR is 1532 and it's similar on most calculators..
  • I agree with this. I also think that the processed and convenience foods have so much more calories it just doesn't make sense. And there are a lot of flavor additives, things to make you eat more or get hungry sooner. I never realized this before but you are right. Eating clean foods consistently fills you up but it can…
  • This All foods that cause me to go over my intake, or even worse binge, are ones that I should avoid really. It could be something like ice cream and cake, to rum or peanut butter, but I have a list of foods that I shouldn't have in the house or buy often. Having a diet pepsi once in a while won't do anything. For me…
  • I agree. In regards to food, I try to a lot of high fiber foods, drink water, tea, soups, lots of veggies. In regards to lifestyle, staying busy, exercise and follow a meal plan. I find that if I have a plan in place, It takes most of the focus off of food, like what do I eat, what should I eat, what do I feel like having.…
  • Ooh I am stealing this one for sure. It definitely resonates with me b/c I convince myself every week that I can buy a pint of ice cream and have a spoonful and walk away. I know you can't outrun a bad diet, but I am someone that eats better when I am exercise, so a good piece of advice that I got early on was to follow…
  • It's tough. I CLEARLY have a ways to go and some coworkers and friends say I am fine, criticize me or tease what I eat because I am eating veggies at lunch instead of buffalo wings and a personal pizza... When I was really good and someone offered me a candy or sweets, I would take it, say thanks, and TRASH IT. Or I would…
  • If it causes you to binge, then you should get rid of it and find out why. If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, have an apple, mango or some fruit that you like. it really is trial and error. I have had issues in the past with cereal, peanut butter, bread, jelly, greek yogurts that have sweetened fruit. Foods that by…
  • Hmm I was thinking the same thing. There is no end date for a healthy lifestyle. I would just start now and take Tgiving off and just be healthy on your trip. Start dates just puts pressure when in reality, life, holidays, events will always happen so it's best to get used to it now. I hope I don't sound negative, but I…
  • The weekend is like a black hole for me, especially if I am feeling down or not motivated. Work keeps me busy and occupied. I find that if I exercise first thing in the morning, my weekend days are more likely to not go downhill. The trick is to stay busy. Not sure what your situation is, but I try to make plans with…
  • I weigh myself every day after I use the bathroom. Not everyone can do this, because you can't let the fluctuations consume you and stress you out. But with that being said, sometimes they can tell you something. Like the high sodium meal from yesterday is making me retain water, I should try to have more today, etc. I…
  • I can eat anything with Newman's Own Light Honey Mustard dressing. In fact, I am going to have salads next week for dinner
  • I agree with this. I also find that if I limit it too much I don't have as much energy. I prepare overnight oats for the week on Sunday and each night just put 1/2 cup of almond milk. It has .5 cup of oatmeal, 1 TBSP chia seeds, .5-1 banana and occasionally sunflower seeds or PB. But I allot for having a bigger breakfast,…
