I don't know about this. I find that my belly is flabbier despite workouts and am still soft so I am cutting it out. Maybe it's a mental thing but I need to give it a try.

He will notice! Congrats on your weight loss. I find that people don't tell you if they don't see you actively doing something or talking about it a lot. If you talk about how you are leaving work to go to the gym, people will feel comfortable with saying it. , oh wow I notice a difference. At my last job, I talked about…

Same question...

I read in Fitness magazine recently that willpower is finite and you can't "get it." You start the day with a certain amount depending, and everything you do throughout the day takes away from it. Reading that has put a lot into perspective. I can't have junk in my house because at the end of a long day, screw veggies give…

I'm sorry hun. Try not to be too upset. Slip ups happen, no one is perfect. Tomorrow will be better.

You can't let this throw you into a deep depression. 74 is a lot. Weight loss is not a science it's trial and error so you have to keep on trialing. I believe the Ornish plan is similar to Eat to live, which doesn't even require calorie counting. Just eat a whole lot of veggies to fill you up, with lots of other whole…

Agreed. On a cheat day I could easily eat 6000 calorie, ice cream, cake and pizza. will do it. I try not to restrict myself too much, but it can't be a free for all. I have a sweet tooth like none other. It doesn't discriminate, so I have to be careful

It has always been to look better and feel comfortable in my skin. I just happened to find a mode that I didn't hate (walking/jogging). The more weight I lose, the better I feel so I want to lose more and never go back

Not looking for sympathy at all...I am living where I am to pay off my massive student loans!

I really like this idea. Whenever we meet up, it is always a lot of fun. A regular thing is a good idea, even just for coffee

They used to treat me like a ghost then I started participating a bit more. You are right ppl are caught up in their own lives, I think I am going to stop listening or participating in their monologues and see if that ends it. Or I will start talking about my cat when someone mentions their kids. I also need to start doing…

Hmm, do I sound depressed? Because I am not. I actually feel good, except for the no friends to talk to, which is major, but I am not letting it effect my mood, hence this post. I am trying to avoid that. Thanks for all the comments. I'm going to try to find new friends, by joining a group. I need to stop looking to…

I quit smoking 4 weeks ago and didn't have any issue until I started PMSing last week and had a particularly trying week at work. I was craving cake and ice cream every day and I gained a few lbs and even considered buying a pack. But I told myself that even if I gained all the weight back, it's better than smoking. I…

I love this thread! As a shortie it is great to see this..

THANKS!! Logging while I eat is a good idea. I kind of unofficially have to eat lunch at my desk because I man the office phone. I have been trying to walk to the further train station to my job (15 mins both ways) to burn some calories. I was using that time for cardio, but I should try to use that time to think as well.…

Thanks for the tips! The one day at a time is good and I am going to start slow. I do the same thing with the journal btw, lol. I think I am going to focus on moving everyday. And then just adding small goals. I'm not a soda person or carb crazy. I am a sweets person for sure. Maybe I will try to limit it to 2 treats/week…

Thanks It's funny how I forget these tips. This isn't a diet and I thought I got rid of the all or nothing approach, but it is still there. I may start off eating something bad and have let the rest of the week go in order to start over on Sunday. I'm also going to use the non scale goals. There were weeks when the scale…

I agree with this completely. I have been there myself when I lost weight years ago eating 1200 cals/day. It took all of the willpower in the world to lose it and maintain that. Once I became depressed, my diet was the last thing on my mind. So I ate and ate and gained it all back and more. I used to say that if you lose…

I'm in as well SW: 221 CW: 184 GW: 175 Weigh in Dates: I am going to go with Sundays too. I don't want to start my work week with a weigh in 3/31: 184 4/7: 4/14: 4/21: 4/28: Total weight lost: Just for fun: I want to run 1 mile with out stopping, under 12 mins would be great, but just straight through is my goal

I try to stay aware. Not play music too loud. I prefer running when the sun is going down. I say just always be on alert. My issue in NY isn't not being seen by cars, it's trying not to get attacked. Pepper spray is a good idea, although I haven't gotten it yet.

LOL. At least once a month I delude myself into thinking that I can buy 1 pack of cookies and eat 1 cookie per day, etc, until they are all gone the same day. I think it's best not to have certain things in the house. Like jelly, cookies etc. The only thing I have is pineapple cottage cheese to have for dessert (or fruit…

I disagree with that statement. It is possible to not eat enough so your body doesn't have fuel that wouldn't result in weight loss. Especially with exercising 6 days a week.
-
How many total calories are you eating per day, excluding exercise calories? I find that the more I eat, the more energy I have and the more weight I lose.
-
That is great advice. I feel that the more that i work my top I look more balanced and more hour glass shaped. Plus my posture is better

I loved that season too. I found John's determination inspiring. Also Couples 2, the one where Helen won

I was thinking the same thing. You have to build muscle even in the beginning because doing just cardio will cause muscle loss. Plus, having more muscle raises your metabolism hence the weight will come off faster. It's a win win. I you wait for the fat to come off, there won't be toned muscle under the fat and you could…

Thanks for the comments. I agree it is about a lifestyle change and not just the weight. I have tried low carb before and I was not only fussy but a total *kitten* to everyone around me. Slow and steady is best. I am going to try to add more healthy fats and proteins and try to make tweaks until I get to that level where I…

Uh, I am 183 and a pear and 5'3. Hips 45 1/2 and waist 34. I agree with others that you can't spot reduce. Jogging has helped and also squats and lunges. I will say that your thighs and hips will look bigger if you aren't controlling your diet and losing weight. For waist, crunches and planks. After a week of not doing…

I wear nothing, but I weigh myself before I pee and after I pee. Just to see if there was any change...
