Awesome! I love both the message and your success!

Hi Ladies! I grew up in MI, but am currently in Indiana... my husband's job moves us around a bit. I am patiently waiting for the day that we can go back to our home base for good! =) I have a son who will be three at the end of the month. Right now I'd be happy to lose 20 pounds, but realisticly it should be closer to 50!…

Heehee I love it. I just had my husband hide our scale. I'm going cold turkey and I knew if I put it some where then I would still just go and get on it every day! So now I have no idea where it is and I am just going to focus on my healthy habits and go with how I feel rather than that stinking number on the scale! =)

bump - duh, I forgot I started with a reply! TGIF!!!

Snack size candy bars work for me! But you have to have the will power to only eat ONE! =) That was the hard part for me to learn, but now that I am used to it I can have my little hit of chocolate, enjoy the comfort for a few mins, and only kill roughly 80 calories. Of course then its right back to making healthy choices.…

I like this sentiment. Thanks for a bit of light this morning!

You need to start working on your portion control first. Unless you want to live in a cave isolated from every other human being, there is always going to be bad food around. =) The key is to have some but just in moderation. Make the pasta for your hubby, but only make 3 servings of it. Then he can eat 2 and you have one.…

I agree a call to your doctor might be in order.... three weeks is a bit extreme.

Beans and Rice are good cheap fillers. You can get away with less meat by bulking up chicken dishes or ground beef/turkey with both rice and veggies. I also have to say that I know family members can be picky, but I don't see a reason why they can't eat the same things you do. You will be eating a healthy well rounded…

I seem to remember reading that you really only need about 500 extra calories a day while pregnant, but I would still check with your doctor.

I cook healthy foods for the family and manage my portions by weighing and measuring what I eat. Part of my motivation is to make sure my son does not have the same struggles with weight that I have had since a child. I figure he can eat a healthy well balanced diet just like me! We have a dog, she eats my son's leftovers!…

I don't think its losing the actual pounds that have made me a happier person. I think its having set a goal for myself and finally accomplishing it. Knowing that I have made my life healthier just gives me more and more confidence to attack that next goal. I guess I'm learly of relating your happiness level with your…

We have all joint accounts and pool our money. When we first started living together and planning for our wedding/future we had a few fights about money, but really that was more about manageing our expectations and getting on the same page. It only took a few months and we had figured out the money thing that works for…

Heck yeah I have fat days. Dude everyone has down days... we just all call them different things depending on what our "issues" are. The key is to not give into your negative feelings. Have one fat day indulgence and then get let it go. Keep reminding yourself of how you know you will feel the next day and that its not…

that's awesome! Great job!

bump - good question, I was wondering the same thing! =)

SC1572 - I just found this and tried it last week at my normal grocery store. Not sure where you are but it was at Jewel Osco here. It has a very odd texture, but it does taste like peanut butter. Definitely not bad for a low calorie alternative to JIF.

I struggle with this too. The key for me is trying to move as much as possible on the weekend and only letting yourself have the "treats" once a day. So if I have that big old fancy coffee and a bagel for breakfast on Saturday, then I'm only having a salad with dinner. I also do my weigh ins on Friday morning. I know the…

good words to start my day with... thank you!

Boneless pork chops, brown rice, and a variety of steamed veggies!

If you grate it, then you can freeze it and use it later in breads and muffins. Its not diet friendly, but you can also make chocolate zucchini cake! =) You can add it to pasta sauce.... crushed tomatoes, diced zucchini, onion, garlic, oregeno, salt, pepper and what ever else you like in your red sauce.

I have the same issues with my hubby, although he seems more open to my substituions as time goes by! He will absolutely not eat cauliflower though. For any recipe that uses ground beef I always mix in or replace the beef with ground turkey. With stuff like spaghetti sauce or tacos I used all ground turkey. For things like…

Nothing ever worked for me with my morning sickness... which lasted the entire time I was pregnant! So I have tried it all, finally relying on having to be fed by an IV and perscription meds for the nausea. I found that the old standard of saltines before I even sat up in bed helped a bit in the morning. I'd roll over and…

I was in the same boat as you... the pudgy kid, but not obese like some kids are today. I don't remember more than one or two obese kids in my entire 12 years of school. Of course now that I am sitting here thinking about it, I'm trying to remember if any of the children at my son's day care are really that obese. I can't…

I make this one for my family every morning in about 5 mins.... note that the quanties makes enough for 3 of us! 1/2 cup skim milk 1/4 cup POM juice 1 heaping tbls milled flaxseed 4 heaping tbls greek yogurt ( I use fat free vanilla) 1 tbls honey 1 banana roughly 2 cups mixed berries (you can use fresh or frozen - if…
