  • I was thinking that and I don't even swing that way.
  • Good luck OP! Most people seem to like it here better than WW from posts I've read!

  • Yeah, who seriously thinks a person can add 3lbs of muscle in a week? :noway: LOL I know it's hard, but remember you're in this for the long haul and don't let short term ups and downs frustrate you. Since you have a thyroid condition, well, your best bet is to talk to your doctor and a nutritionist about what you should…

  • Yup. Grocery IQ app! If I didn't have a list, I would buy everything but what I went in for because I'd forget about it! LOL The phone app makes it great for my husband and I to have a common list so, no matter who stops at the store, we know what to get!
  • Wow, MsPudding. Whereas I get where you're coming from if you take that quote out of the context in which it was intended, do you really think that was the OP's intent? I think in relation to the fitness journey (we are on a fitness site) and using a little common sense, the "pain" being "overcome" is that one would…
  • LOL My workout time = dog "down stay" training time! It has worked out very well!
  • I've done 30DS and Ripped in 30. I liked them both. 30DS Level 2 is my "go to" workout when I don't know what to do / don't feel like thinking about it. :) I'm seriously looking at Body Revolution, but am also thinking at this point that I might want to do NROL4W or SL5x5. I think 30DS is a great place to start, though.…
  • Love the look, love the attitude!!

  • YOU ... ARE ... AWESOME !!!!!!
  • Just as much effort for me, for the most part. I exercise and log 5 days/week. I'm more active on weekends, though, so I am getting some "exercise". I no longer log food on weekends and I know I likely exceed my calorie goals, but I do not let the weekends be a "free for all" just because I'm not logging. Of course, I'm…
  • "BUT does sugar or carbs make you have cellulite and cause fat? " Excess calories of any kind or type will cause you to gain weight over the long-term. One can eat "clean" (not here to argue what that means) and be overweight if you take in too many calories. Be reasonable with the treats and honest with yourself on how…
  • I use Google Maps, too.
  • I    Pop-Tarts! I  ice cream. Never dreamed of putting the two together. Likely won't because I can just imagine the one he!! of a sugar headache I would get from that. So, yes, I truly limit both in my diet. Having a package of Pop-Tarts every afternoon at my desk is a good part of what ended…
  • WOW! Yeah, he must be significantly overweight… might run the numbers a few times. I've noted there are some differences between the various online calculators, but maybe not THAT much. In my case, MFP and TDEE calculations are very close.
  • Yes, you look more toned I think. Maybe you should take a picture of your backside... could be there's more to this story to tell. My weight loss def shows back there!
  • Google "cooking with protein powder". I found a lot of articles and recipes that way. In summary, you can substitute the protein powder for some of the flour in a recipe, but protein leaves your baked goods much drier. I read to add more fats (like oil) to counteract that... but that's not exactly what I was looking to do!…
  • I understand, but sort of in the opposite way. I was fortunate to be pretty slim growing up. I was never one that could eat anything I wanted, but I never had any weight issues as long as I ate reasonably. So, as I put on weight (in my 30s), in my mind's eye I would still see the "normal" me, the me I had always known, but…
  • Try Ab Ripper X from P90X. I've seen the individual DVD on sale on eBay, for example. Maybe Amazon, too. It's a core workout and if you don't feel the results from it, you just aren't doing it right.
  • You are a good brother! Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of advice for you. I wouldn't let this go, though. Obviously your sister with her condition depends on those who love her to keep her safe. I work with a man who has a daughter with Asperger's and it's been really difficult, especially as she gets older,…
  • Also, I use PB2 paste made with water with my celery sticks instead of actual peanut butter to keep the calories way down (3 oz celery sticks and 1T PB2 paste is around 60 cals).
  • I've been mixing 1T of ranch-yogurt dip (10 cals) with a 3 oz can of chicken breast meat (70 cals) and wrap that in Romaine lettuce leaves. Tasty, very filling, good way to get in some protein and under 100 calories!
  • I find the treadmill very boring, so I am proud and in awe of you for not only not quitting but for excelling!! Music does make it go quicker, though!
  • P.S. To increase your calories in a healthier way, try nuts or nut butters, preferably natural ones. A small amount packs a lot of calories, but nuts have healthy benefits, too. Mix it up with almonds, walnuts, pecans, whatever you like. Avocado is another healthy food. I make a quick guacamole by mashing up an avocada and…
  • First, it is not a given that 1200 is "the" lowest number for all people... most likely the number is a bit higher for most adults. 1200 is just the lowest MFP allows as a "catch all" safety number. Unless you have a tiny physique, it's just unlikely that 1200 calories will "keep you alive". You are 16? First, someone…
  • After I got my HRM, I found MFP to be close on some of the activities, under on some, and yet way over on others… I would guess it would be a little different for every individual and the effort put into any activity on any given day.
  • You should eat your exercise calories back IF you have your activity level (which you plugged in while setting your "goals") set to NOT include your workouts. For example, I have a desk job so I set my activity level to sedentary. That doesn't account for my exercise, so I log my exercise and eat those calories back. If…
  • P.S. Women NEED to strength train like they need air. It's absolutely necessary to keep our bones dense and our muscles strong to keep the bones in place, especially post-menopause. You don't need to train like a body builder, so don't let it scare you off. Strength training would be a great compliment to your C25K…
