  • I've never hurt myself in the gym but did have a back problem that prevented me from lifting for a month. I reminded myself that I will likely live for 40-50 more years and one month out of the next 500 or so months is not a big deal.
  • I'd say "sounds great!" and give a thumbs up and then move on. People say stupid stuff all the time. As long as it doesn't affect me, it doesn't bother me.
  • In the grand scheme of things, training each body part once per week for approximately a month is not going to cause problems. When I have a lot going on, I cut back on my training and usually do a full body workout twice per week. However, I can see how four shorter (one body part) sessions could be easier to manage with…
  • Preworkout is a caffeine drink. I don't see any reason why it can only be ingested before strenuous activity.
  • It really is fun to get started with them. You'll find that the added strength makes life easier in ways that you never thought about and those ways can sneak up on you. Last summer we were spreading mulch and I made a comment that they must be putting less in the bags but pricing them the same because I was able to carry…
  • I agree that it's the suit, not you. I would try elsewhere for a suit. Try on a few that you don't particularly like on the hanger, even. I've discovered quite a few outfits that I like on me but when I saw them on the hanger thought "there's no way."
  • 1. If you are eating a sufficient level of protein plus strength training you will retain as much muscle as possible 2. Inbody machines have margins of error that are fairly wide and I would suggest skipping them entirely 3. Losing LBM does not always mean losing muscle. LBM is everything except fat, which means it…
  • When I developed Achilles tendinitis, both my doctor and physical therapist told me to continue lifting as long as my pain didn't get above a certain threshold. I did and after about 6 weeks, which included some PT, it diminished greatly. I never ended up having to stop lifting.
  • That's my question too. Are you trying to pack foods that will be actual meals or are you trying to find snacks because "that's what you do on road trips"?

  • My advice is to try the 2500 and see how it works. It doesn't sound crazy high to me, based on your stats. But they are all estimates and the very best thing to do is to give it a go for 2-4 weeks and then adjust based on results. Some people worry about that being 2-4 weeks"wasted" but I see it as 2-4 weeks invested in…
  • I always take a tray of raw veggies when given the chance. Nearly everybody on both sides of my family will munch off of it all day. That and fruit skewers seem to be big hits.
  • I've always taken it at night right before bed and haven't found it to affect my sleep. I take anywhere from 2000-20,000 IUs at a time. I think I'm going to start taking it in the morning since it's fat soluble and I always have eggs for breakfast though. I will update if I notice that my sleep changes because of this.
  • If I'm in a phase when I am weighing regularly, I weigh no matter what. If you are a person who gets freaked out by fluctuations, it might not work for you. But, in general, I think that weighing no matter what is a good way to become inured to weight fluctuations and learn what kinds of things may affect your weight and…
  • I have to concur with RoxieDawn. Sixty minutes right off the bat is not going slow to get back into something. Ten to fifteen minutes is going slow. Twenty is easing into things. Thirty is good for somebody who isn't totally sedentary.
  • Babies are master tricksters. As soon as you start feeling a bit smug about a routine they will switch it up. I'm half kidding because of course they don't do this on purpose but remember that they are doing a ton of growing and developing so having periods when things go wonky for a bit is completely normal.
  • 1. Wash the cloths soon after wearing. No letting them fester in a dark hamper or gym bag for a week. 2. Add vinegar to the wash water. 3. Have enough clothes that you don't wear them multiple times between washings.

  • What do you mean when you say this?
  • I would just make a new account. It would take 5 minutes compared to trying to wipe out your current one.
  • Lol  Just kidding around.
  • Obviously it depends on how long you do that, how high your deficit is, whether you ever learn to eat properly, etc. The only other thing I can add is don't think that what you are feeling now (fine with the fasting) is necessarily going to last. It's easy to be on a weight loss high when you first start. People get very…
  • I use Optimum Nutrition too. I get it from Amazon or GNC. Sometimes one is cheaper than the other.
  • From an aesthetic standpoint, lifting weights helped me look better after my weight loss than I would have if I hadn't been losing. I have no 100% way to state that since I didn't repeat the process without lifting but I firmly believe it. Several people made comments to the effect of I know you've lost weight but you've…
  • Stop focusing on the word "exercise." Just move more. That can mean walking around town or walking circles in your house. Unfortunately, most people who want fast weight drops won't listen to reason and only change their mind after they've lost a bunch of weight and realize that they've sacrificed way more muscle than…
  • The amount of fat you will lose in two days of not eating is small--less than 2 lbs. You will mostly lose water weight, which you are bound to lose when starting a diet anyway. It's not the worst thing ever to start out with an aggressive approach. Keeping it up too long or doing it unwisely will mean losing too much…
  • How many calories are you eating? What are your weight and height? What kind of foods are you eating? There are many reasons for hunger and without more details we can only give very general answers. Being hungry all the time could be due to eating too little food, food that is not filling, or having a low tolerance for…
  • I'd pack my own food. I see nothing wrong or unprofessional about that.
  • I agree with the "wait it out" crowd. FWIW, when I started lifting I went up 3 lbs the first month, down 3 lbs the next, and then started back down again. However, my look visibly improved even during the first two up/down months.
  • I used to spend a good deal of my free time in a chair, eating anything I could get my hands on and watching TV. Now I spend most of my free time being active or reading and I eat at a level to reach or maintain a healthy weight. That was my lifestyle change.
