No. Where did I say that? People work them either to become stronger or because they mistakenly think it will result in spot reduction.
-
I have no idea what you're asking if it's not "does working X muscle make it bigger?" I have no idea why you seem so steamed about the answer.
-
No. You're not sedentary. Four days a week you are very active. Even if you took the 80,000 steps from those days and spread them out over 7 days you'd be considered active.

Snobbery and people being overly sensitive about silly advertising. Different people like different gyms. Whoop Dee Doo.

Large arms. The post was about her daughter's arm size.

I have to agree. The idea of putting a healthy weight girl who is going through puberty and is at a time in her life when eating disorders easily take root on a diet eating only 75% of her nutritional needs is, frankly, a bit whackadoodle. I would talk to a registered dietician who specializes in children before taking the…

There is a circuit at my rec center and it seems pretty popular. I see a variety of people use it--from college age through seniors.

At 5'10" and 150#, especially if you are college age, you'd be better off focusing on muscle gain and not fat loss. Get it n a good lifting program and you'll be fine. You'll see a difference in two months and as long as you continue with it, your results should be good.

Weight loss happens due to a calorie deficit. Whether she attempts a calorie deficit of 950 by cutting calories or by raising activity, it's not healthy and not going to happen. If her TDEE is 2200, a deficit of 950 would be 43%. Unhealthy and unsustainable. Let's say she decides to split it between cutting how much she's…

Your .02 is worth .00 because it's wrong. It is not possible for a woman of her stats to sustain the type of deficit needed to lose 19 lbs in 2 months. Nineteen lbs lost over 10 weeks requires a deficit of 950 per day. That is likely close to or more than 50% of her TDEE. Nobody is sustaining a 50% deficit for that long…

Losing 10 lbs in a month at a starting weight of 149 is very fast weight loss. Don't expect to continue losing at that rate. Realistically, losing between .5 and 1 lb per week on average over time is reasonable. In addition, as a woman you will have hormonal fluctuations that cause your weight to change all the time.…

I prefer my home gym. No time wasted on travel to/fro. I can roll out of bed and go at any time. I can superset, leave my equipment out, and otherwise act in ways that would be rude in a public gym. If necessary, I can run upstairs to let a dog out/put something in the oven/otherwise TCB in between sets.

When you say that your shoulders are weak, what do you mean, or how are you measuring that? Is it based on weight you're lifting or how fast you are progressing with that weight? If that's the case, keep in mind that your shoulders are relatively small muscles and it is normal to progress more slowly with them. On some…

There are no exercises that will shrink your skin. Wait a couple of years after you hit your goal weight and then it will be as tight as it's going to be without surgery.

Either New Rules of Lifting for Women or Strong by the same authors may be helpful. Remember, you don't have to be strong in order to start strength training. Just like you don't have to be an accomplished pianist in order to take piano lessons. As a beginner, it is normal and expected that you're weaker than you'll be…

There's no way your maintenance calories are only 2500. You likely undereat regularly and then make up for it by eating a few thousand calories extra from time to time.

Whether or not you try to stick with certain macros is really up to your personal goals and preferences. I lift weights and prioritize retaining what muscle I've built so I eat in line with that goal. Other people aren't as concerned with that so they may not eat as much. As far as your macros seeming high...remember that…

Agreed. If you log your calories correctly, I would expect the same.

Start lifting weights yesterday. It will help you retain as much muscle as possible while you lose. As an overweight beginner, you will also be able to gain strength and some muscle while losing. You'll get to your goal with a better body composition (fat vs lean ratio) than you would if you didn't do what was possible to…

Log your calories. In general, people are pretty terrible at estimating how much they eat. Plus, it's extremely easy to plain old forget that you ate something. I've had it happen to me and I've been tracking my intake for 4 years.

I only know a very little bit about the keto diet. You might want to try one of the keto groups as somebody there might be able to help you out. Click on Search and then just use "keto group" as your search term.

I've had friends who have had WLS and it's not the easy way to go about things. Their food intake is seriously limited both in quantity and variety. The ramifications of eating too much or even just a bit of the wrong food can be extremely unpleasant. My suggestion would be to hide your friend's posts in your FB (or…

I weigh it with it on, eat it, and then weigh the peel and subtract that number from the original weight.

Add cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. On the side, not on top of your sandwich. Unless you like it on the sandwich, I suppose. I get 4% milkfat cottage cheese and it's 110 calories (13 g protein, 5 g fat, 4 g carbs) per half cup. You could also add protein powder to the yogurt if you want even more protein. If you have…

Eat at maintenance for a couple of days.

Usually when people talk about hard fat, they are talking about having fat but not being jiggly. For example, a guy with a big belly that seems to be firm, not soft. Usually that's because his midsection is full of visceral fat (the fat that packs around your organs.) Visceral fat is the first to burn off and once it is…

When I started lifting I was up 3 lbs the first month, down 3 the second month. Never felt bloated though.
-
No, there's nothing wrong with it. I'd probably weigh once per week and note whether it was a maintenance or diet week. Sounds intriguing to me.
-
I really don't care how others do things that have no affect on me and have never even considered "respect" (or lack thereof) coming into play as far as my thoughts on people who use diet pills or surgery. I have enough actual real life stuff to think about without gumming my brain up with thoughts on other people's diet…

I fry 2-3 eggs in coconut oil (7 grams) and put it on top of steel cut oats. I keep the yolks runny so I can chop them up and stir it all together, season it with salt, and voila--delicious. I eat this probably 4-5 mornings a week. (I usually make 4 servings of oats at a time and then just reheat them each morning to cut…
