Spent about 2 hours playing Diablo 3 last night and another couple of hours playing through the Torchlight 2 beta. Torchlight 2 seems really promising, I might give the edge to Diablo 3 because of the backstory and lore, because I have no idea what any of that is in the Torchlight universe, but the gameplay, enemies,…

Kind of a bummer, it's not being made by Bethesda, it's being made by some Zenimax, it's using the same engine Star Wars: TOR was built on, the one screenshot they released looks very WoW-ish (that I've seen at least), not anything like Skyrim or any Elder Scrolls game to date. The description of it based on the Game…

That's for fancy folks.

I got my Torchlight 2 beta key last night, looking forward to checking it out. I leveled a Barbarian up to 12 and a Monk up to 4. The level of polish on Diablo 3 is crazy, it'll be nice once they have the back end server stuff up to the same level.

Yep, exactly. Torchlight is actually made by some of the guys who worked on Diablo 1/2 at Blizzard, then broke off into their own company. Their names even show up in the credits for Diablo 3, lol. Torchlight and Diablo are pretty much the bookends of the action RPG genre.

Diablo isn't really an MMO, it's an action RPG. If you're looking for something more like World of Warcraft, you should check out some of the Free-To-Play MMOs that are out there. There are a bunch on Steam, I would check there first probably. http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Massively%20Multiplayer/ Guild Wars 2 is…

Got my Barb up to lvl 12 yesterday when I could play, which wasn't nearly as much as I would have liked considering I pretty much took the day off to play. Also got a monk up to lvl 4 last night before I had to stop playing. I expect in a couple of days, 99% of the problems will be resolved, but yeah, you'd think after all…

Won't be out til 1am here (Denver, CO), which is kind of a bummer. I'm taking tomorrow off (yes, for this, and a little yardwork probably), but I was hoping to log a little time tonight. Sounds like the EU/Asia launch has been pretty busted so far though, so I'm probably better off just waking up early and hopping on.

We have 2 of each, I personally like the PS3 more from an aesthetic standpoint (xmb is just overall cleaner and less cluttered than the dashboard on the 360), but I like the 360 a lot too. I don't play a lot of games online, but when I have, I haven't had any issues on either console (I've played Gears and some Halo on the…

I got a First Edition Bundle from some guy on Craigslist for $270 the week they came out. He posted it for $300, and when I emailed to offer $270 he jumped on it, apparently due to job/money issues that had arisen after he pre-ordered it and forgot about it. I messed around with the copy of Little Deviants that came with…

It's not everybody's cup of tea, but you might check out Two Worlds II. It's multiplayer RPG kind of along the lines of Skyrim, except not as sandbox-y. It's cheap enough these days that if you buy it and don't like it, you're not out much. You can buy it used on Gamefly for $13 and since they only ship out the disc for…

Just started playing through Darklands again a little this past weekend. Great classic RPG, pretty steep learning curve, but very rewarding. Definitely recommended, if you don't want to deal with the mess of setting up DosBox yourself, you can grab it for $6 on gog.com and they have an installer that will run it under any…

Storage Wars Tried to watch Storage Hunters, but that's horrible.

I would just flash them my hot man boob.

Depends on the game and the reasons behind the M rating for me. I wouldn't let my 11 year old son play GTA or Saint's Row games, but I've played through all of the Halo games with him, and they have M ratings. I've never found anything especially offensive in a Halo game, sure, you're shooting aliens, but you're shooting…

Out in the middle of nowhere, I had a dragon show up. He circled around a few times, blasting me with ice, and then he landed smack dab on top of me and died instantly. I got the soul and all his bony goodies. I look up and there's a 2nd dragon circling, but he doesn't show up as a red dot on the directional thingie and he…

49 hours, the last 4 hours of that have been running around mining and working on my archery to get it high enough to put some perks towards it. If you're low on money, mining is a godsend. I went from about 7k to 45k over the weekend just hitting up mines that I'd previously found and strip mining them, then heading back…

I live in Denver, don't really care about NFL football, don't know anything about Tebow, but crap if I don't get tired of people talking about him and "tebowing". But I understand it's an unfortunate side effect of living in a city where little else seems to matter except who wins at whatever sport is in season at the time.

Rumors are that the new XBox will be announced at E3 next year, with a probably 2013 release. Rumors tho...who knows. PS3 will be supported for 10 years, but the PS2 was as well, came out in 2000 and the PS3 came out in 2006, so I would expect even tho they'll support the PS3 until 2016, they won't wait until then to…

When a PC completely powers off, it's generally an indication of a bum power supply, you might look at that first. No guarantees and maybe you already looked at it, but just throwing it out there in case. It's a fairly cheap solution if it's the problem.

Depends a lot on on the developer, time, and money. Criterion used the PS3 as their lead on games like Burnout Paradise and the last Need for Speed (before NFS:Run). Their reasoning was that the PS3 is a beast to develop for out of the gate, and that it's easier to transition that code over to the 360 and PC afterwards.…

Haven't had any issues on the PC, although I know there's a sound quality specific issue that causes a drop to desktop, but is correctable by going into sound settings in the control and changing the sound quality on the system. I think the PS3 issue is mostly with older model PS3s and slower hard drives. I've also seen a…

It's pretty great, I'm around 27 hours in and have locations on maybe 1/3 of the full map so far, and the amount of locations is really dense this time around compared to Oblivion. I am already noticing some repetition in locations and dungeons, but that's to be expected given that it fits on one DVD I guess. Overall, my…

From what I've heard Skyrim looks a little better on the PS3 texture wise, maybe due to more space on a BD disc. I can't confirm or deny that since I'm playing it on the PC. I've also heard that once the save file gets to a certain size on the PS3, it may cause issues. I've also heard there's a texture load-in problem on…

If you're going to buy a used PS3, make sure it's a Slim model. Some of the older models had issues similar to the original 360s with the systems getting too hot and solder on the board losing connection. I would still recommend against used tho, for the extra $50-$100 you're getting the benefit of the newest hardware…

Not going to get into a debate, but the 360 had Forza 4 and Gears 3 this year, which are both great games (Forza 4 is very much an iteration of Forza 3, and I think you could question whether or not it warranted a $60 price tag, but that's another discussion). The PS3 had Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Killzone 3,…

Brand: Mine Own Build Intel i7-920 running at 4GHz 12GB of DDR3 EVGA Nvidia GTX470 Creative Soundblaster X-Fi (Gamer I think, I honestly dunno which one, I picked it up in a baggie on the return shelf at Microcenter for $3, I have no idea it was an X-Fi card until I got home with it later) 3 x 2TB Seagate 7200RPM hard…

I got em all, beefy custom PC that I am constantly evolving when money allows and newer games necessitate, a 360, a Wii, and 2 PS3s. Actually have 3 pretty game worthy PCs in my house, since my kids are big into WoW usually will play other games on the PC if they're available.
