  • Wahooooo did it! SW 142 CW 140 :-D
  • I'll check into since I've got happy news, SW - 142 CW - 141 GW - 140 One more to go!! So stoked!
  • I'm in! Sounds like a good goal! Let's do this! CW - 142 GW - 140
  • Hummus! I eat it literally everyday :) Other than that greek yogurt, oatmeal, granny smith apples, carrots, boca burgers, tofu, avocados, almonds, pistachios and craisins. So much yummy food!
  • Most likely it was low blood sugar. Have you been eating low amounts of carbs and sugar? Your body has to work extra hard to make glucose if you aren't ingesting enough of these. Like weaklink said, try some natural sugar next time, a piece of fruit or even some simple carbs, like a glass of milk and it'll probably have a…
  • I'm a milk drinker. I drink at least a glass a day, mostly because I just love the taste so much. I usually have my glass right after my run. Milk has a great source of easy to break down carbohydrates and protein. The carbohydrates go right into refueling the body and the protein goes to help repair the muscle fiber that…
  • If you enjoy running and jogging a great website is mapmyrun.com. Membership is free and it allows you to map the distance of your runs and log them. They use google maps, so you can see terrain and street names, which makes it really simple. In addition, if you live in a hilly neighborhood like I do, it lets you see the…
  • I tend not to use my exercise calories, I know it can only help with weight loss. I listen to my body and eat when I'm hungry. If on an exercise day I get headaches, I know it's probably because my sugar is low, then I eat some of my exercise calories. And then everyone once in a while on the weekends I'll use this them…
  • While some of your advice is sound, avoiding artificial sweeteners and other chemicals, some of it is a little off. I'm not a dietitian or nutritionist, but I am a biochemist. The main one I think that needs to be cleared up is that you should avoid glucose, in actuality your body needs glucose and if you eat anything with…
  • I definitely have, not in weight loss per se, but in overall health yes. I made the switch mostly for environmental issues and animal rights, didn't really know much about the health benefits before i changed. And since it's happened, it's been a huge bonus and now probably my main reason for sticking with it. I have so…
  • I'm veggie! Been so since January 1, 2010 (it was my new year's resolution). I love it! If you need any help at all in transitioning or with recipes, just ask!
  • I'm a new runner like yourself and on my first day I ran one mile and wanted to pass out. And then I wanted cry, I've only been out of high school 5 years, where I played sports year round, how had it gotten this bad? And then I decided to suck it up and change it. I think taking the first step is the most important one.…
  • Food Inc is a great eye opener to the broken food system in our country. There are also some really great books out their that also look at the problem. I became a vegetarian (4 months in) after reading them and they seriously changed my way of thinking. The Food Revolution by John Robbins and anything by Michael Pollen.…
  • I'm similar to most it seems, weigh everyday but only Monday morning's go in the book.
  • I'm a big fan of Greek yogurts too. I don't really like regular yogurt because of the texture, but Greek yogurt is naturally thicker so it works for me. Like the others said, lots of protein and relatively (and naturally) low in fat. It's definitely worth giving a try.
  • I'm similar as well! Graduated college last may and am really working hard to drop the 20-25 lbs I've put on since starting college! This website is great for tracking food and exercise has a great community. I think it's all about making the decision to do it. A month ago I wouldn't even consider enjoying running, and now…

  • I'm also training for a 5k and had the same problem about a half an hour ago, but i just put my running shoes on and it was like i have to do it. So just go grab your shoes and put them on, once they are on you won't be able to take them off! You can do it! Just remember how great it feels after you've finished!!! :-D
  • I'd say go with the HRM. The machine isn't constantly taking information so it cannot be as accurate about the amount of calories you burn. In addition if it is a treadmill that doesn't ask for weight and age, it has really no way of telling your calorie burn.
  • I'm a new vegetarian. I started with a new years 2010 after reading many books on just how bad meat is for the environment, our bodies and of course the animals from which they come from. I have to say the beginning was definitely difficult, I would go for a non vegetarian meal at a restaurant and then have to consciously…
  • Roasted Veggies are the best like Ralleigh said! I'm a vegetarian so finding new things to do with vegetables is my life. I'm a big fan of roasting eggplant, mushrooms and zucchini with a little olive oil, salt and pepper for 30 mins at 400 degrees. Once done, i put onto a tortilla (Mission brand makes a great carb balance…
  • I usually stay between 200-250. I find if I have something high in fiber first thing, it sticks for a long time so I don't get hungry. My favorite thing right now is plan oatmeal with a tbls of nutella mixed in. yummmm.
  • How about we do it for each other? I'm 22 and similarly to you want to lose about 25 pounds. I'm new to the site but am determined to do this! WE CAN DO IT!
