  • My Mum was only 5ft 2" and therefore believed if she was going to have children of a decent height, she needed to marry someone very tall....she whittled the choice down to a 6ft 6.5" tall doctor or a 6ft 4" pig farmer.... The doctor won out and they had two children - first my sister 5ft 7.5" and then me, 5ft 9.5"..... my…
  • I found this site quite helpful in determining frame size and a more realistic BMI / Weight for my height. Check it out: http://www.ehow.com/how_2346297_determine-body-frame-size.html I'm 5ft 9" and aiming for 165 to 168 lbs which on the regular BMI charts only just gets me into the 'healthy' range but people start to tell…
  • It's good to be impatient if you can harness that into working out more and eating less :) There are lots of factors which contribute to the rate at which you're able to lose weight but if you just stick with it and use the great resources on this site and ask for encouragement when you need it, I'm sure you'll do just…
  • Love your photo story board - very motivating - thanks so much for sharing with us. The change you've made is incredible!
  • Congrats! Can notice it a huge amount in your face and legs which both look a heck of a lot slimmer - well done, keep going :D
  • Hi, Can recommend the UK Vegetarian Society website for all things veggie including health & nutrition advice -> www.vegsoc.org I've been veggie for over 25 yrs, it is sometimes a challenge to get enough protein into your diet without cranking up the calories (cheese, nuts). I eat a lot of tofu, chick peas and eggs which…
  • Wow 233 was my starting weight so I comprehend what a huge achievement it has been for you to lose a whole 'me'! Many Congratulations on the slimmer, healthier you ;)
  • you look like you haven't an ounce of fat left so goal must be close by? Have you had any thoughts about strategy for maintaining? will you still use MFP do you think...I have another 20lbs before I'm done but am already wondering how will cope through maintenance esp as had 3 weeks "off" at xmas and put 4 lbs back on! You…
  • I find I eat way more when boredom sets in - which can often be the case if watching telly which is rubbish! Maybe rent / buy some decent films incase nothing on telly appeals or do stuff with your hands (posting on MFP!, emailing friends, FaceBook etc, take up knitting etc). The days where I just keep busy all day seem to…
  • What have you been eating? Anything I want as long as it keeps me in daily target (plus any exercise cals earned) - you soon learn that to feel less hungry, you have to start switching out of the high cal, high fat foods into lower fat ones in order to get a decent portion size. A few foods which have really helped me - 40…
  • One of the most gob-smacking transformations I've seen! "Well done" doesn't really cover it! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!
  • Hi I'm vegetarian (have been for nearly 30 yrs now!) - biggest nutrition concerns are not eating enough protein (especially when dieting as cut cheese & nuts out as too fatty so have to rely on eggs, tofu and beans/pulses) and not getting enough iron - I frequently become chronically anaemic and have to have treatment…
  • I'm dropping out of this daily challenge as it involves too much scrolling and life is short! Have fun everyone.
  • I have TOTALLY the same experience!
  • I think my whole complex about my weight started as a teenager when peeps were always a bit 'lazy' with their vocabulary so although I was only 10 stone / 140 lbs (I'm just over 5ft 9), people would describe me as the 'big' girl when what they actually meant was the 'tall' girl but they never said 'tall' ! I used to get…
  • I'm just over 5ft 9" and at the age of 15 had a fixed brace on my teeth so I regularly got called 'lurch' (from the adams family) and 'jaws' (from the james bond films)....quite traumatic for an impressionable teenager but I now have really nice straight teeth which have always drawn nice compliments so I guess eventually…
  • Tues 3rd Jan goals are... (1). 2 x 1 hour dog walks (2). 3 x 12 reps crunches (3). Finish website (3 new pages & various corrections)
  • Many congratulations on an amazing achievement and a great example for your children & grand-children. Good luck with the marathon, am sure you will make it look easy!
  • Great idea for a post! My name is Claire, I'm (reluctantly) single and trying to achieve GW before my 45th birthday (and when I plan to also get a new work contract) in April. I live in the countryside and walk my gorgeous dog, Riley, daily. I need to make the most of my time off and get all those niggling house / d.i.y…
  • I'm going to reach GW by end of Feb / March and finally be in the 'Healthy' BMI range - not been there for many years and I'm looking forward to it! I'm also looking forward to the wardrobe clear out :)
  • I put on 4 lbs over December and was shocked it wasn't more as I ate a lot and whatever I wanted, I did keep up the exercise throughout though. I won't log the gain, I will wait until I've lost more than the amount I lost before the gain - hoping I will be back to a net loss in a fortnights time.
  • Hi Firstly congrats on your achievement. All I'd say is does the next 30lbs take you just into the 'healthy' weight range for your height or way into it? If the former then I don't see any problem with your target, if the latter then you may want to get the opinion of a few trusted family or friends or consult your doctor…
  • oops stupid typo - clearly I meant 259lbs lost not 25lbs - a small but hugely important omission!
  • Wow - hadn't seen your stats for a while 25lbs lost! Thats AMAZING! It looks like now you only have a short way to go to reach & maintain your target. It's great to keep reminding yourself of how far you've come and your change in habits because that sort of awareness will surely prevent you from returning to old habits.…
  • You look pretty in both pics but you look so much younger in the 'AFTER' one! Well done, keep it up. I was highly motivated up until the last 2 weeks where I seem to have given up all good practices with all the xmas temptations. Really don't want to slide back to where I was so, like you, am going to dig deep for renewed…
  • Incredible - well done and how lovely to now be running with your grandkids!
  • I've lost 45 lbs in 4 months - you can totally do it :D
  • Great approach and great results, keep on tread-milling :D
  • Wow! you look incredible, congrats on a great achievement - you now know, you are a lot stronger than you may have previously thought because you will always have your lovely Mayer-angel on your shoulder guiding you through life. I am so pleased that you stuck with it, he'd be so proud and you have repaid his bravery.…
  • I'm so impressed with your commitment and results! You look so much healthier and I'm sure, despite the pain, it must be better to have increased your mobility by so much. Good luck with the rest of your journey, I'm sure the 300lbs lost is not far away for you :D
