NO while you can have an occasionally glass of wine or what have you, you need to be very careful about tracking the calories. you can easily blow an entire day's calories on alcohol alone. also, alcohol absorption has been seen to slow the body's metabolism of adipose tissue(fat).

nope. that's lactose, a healthy type of sugar. the only sugars that you really need to avoid are refined sugars. if you're carefully tracking sugar intake, then you will find that almost everything has sugar in it, especially milk and fruits. its a matter if giving your body sugars from a healthy source instead of from…

just finished L1D8 and its definitely not as hard as it was in the beginning. the only thing that's still killing me is the pushups. still have to do those on my knees and i can barely do any after doing the squat-things. tomorrow's weigh-in day so i guess i'll see what jillian has done for me.

ditto to what kah said. your body is amazing at survival. because you're starving yourself, you're not losing fat. instead, your body is doing what is called glucose sparring. i'll spare (excuse the pun) you the details but basically, your body is hurting. you should never consume less than 1200 net calories (net meaning…

question: is half a cup of ice cream as much ice cream as you can possibly cram into 1/2 a cup or is it just as much as will fit comfortably?
-
they can be. if you want to add strength training calories to your exercise calories, then log your strength training under cardio.

Eat well and exercise. Unfortunately, there is no way to spot reduce fat. The only way to make your stomach smaller is to eat less calories than you burn. Eventually, your stomach will start to get smaller. you can do stomach exercises all you want which will make the muscles of your stomach stronger but it will not make…

you do it again no seriously. the best thing to do when you're sore is to work out again. it will make you feel better. also, a heat pad may help too.

i picked it up a while ago and haven't touched it since but i vaguely remember a lot of obscure ingredients because of the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. and i don't like the word skinny.

Just did Day 2 of Level 1... DEAR LORD ms jillian michaels, in the kindest and most loving way possible, i officially hate you the siberian prisons you see in all of those action movies (namely tomb raider) don't put their inmates through that much hell. ok, so maybe that's an exaggeration but i will say that every muscle…

If you are trying to build muscle, then you should be consuming one gram of protein for every pound you weigh. I've never been big on added supplements so i don't have much advice to offer there but i would say that getting your daily fruits and vegetables is doubly important now to make sure that you are getting the…

i have 300-400 calories for breakfast in the morning. what i have varies although some stuff ive had this past week include: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, shredded cheese with skim milk and blueberries english muffin with peanut butter and a banana 2 whole wheat waffles with skim milk and strawberries cliff bar and a banana kashi…

i'm going to answer your question with a few questions of my own: how often are you weighing yourself? are you weighing yourself immediately after hiking? do you drink water after hiking? how long have you been doing mfp? as a side note, you will always be heavier after exercise, especially if youre drinking water. you…

yes sodium is absolutely necessary for a functioning body. I've also been told that the minimum recommendation is 1500 mg but that number is not concrete for everyone. how do you feel with only 1000 mg? if you start to feel bad, then a low sodium intake could definitely be the cause.

I do like MSI but i have to be in a particular mood for it. Rammstein and lil wayne are both on my workout playlist. i just added ciara, cascada, fort minor, and david guetta to that. random, i know.

ooo i've got lots of these: Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn't there the first time you need him, chances are you won't be needing him again. Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art you are crunchy and taste good…

i know it sucks to hear but you have to give it time. your body is going to hold onto the weight for dear life so its going to be a rough start. make sure you are eating your exercise calories as well.
-
This is completely irrelevant but if that's you in your profile pic kaitlinj, you look fantastic!!!
-
yes lifting does burn calories. if you want mfp to give you a calorie count for that, you'll have to enter it under cardio. as always though, an HRM is the most accurate method to determine calories burned.
-
no youre not the only one. myself not included, i do know of others on this site. i was creeping on your profile and i'm loving the pic of faith  spike is so much better than edward

There are varying levels of intolerance. Most people can have small amounts of cheese or other dairy products. Mostly its milk and heavy cream that cause the most issues. Unfortunately, the best way to know what you can and cannot have is through experience. i would hight recommend the lactose pills.

Breakfast: Two whole grain waffles 1 cup sliced strawberries 1 cup skim milk Snack: Banana String cheese Lunch: 2 slices whole wheat bread 2 oz kroger deli turkey 2 tbsp hummus 1/2 granny smith apple *this is all one sandwich. tried it about a week ago and now i'm addicted Snack: Cliff protein bar Dinner: Baked chicken…

the site generally underestimates daily protein levels. I would say that protein is something that you ca get away with not tightly regulating. I would be more concerned with carbs and especially fat. The amount of protein you eat each meal completely depends. i'm sorry i can't give you straight answer but its really…

i'm with gingershark on this one. it would be more helpful to see what you're already eating. some foods that you should incorporate in your diet though are cheese, whole milk, nuts, peanut butter, avocados, granola, dark chocolate, etc.

i would recommend just making your own food because you don't know what those omelets had in them.
