How exciting for your son!!! Here’s hoping he goes to Nationals! Are you going with them? If not…. Perfect timing for your girls weekend away! Or plan your party for the following weekend. Be sure to let us know the actual date so we can celebrate you from afar!

I moved from NJ (born and bred Jersey girl here, we don’t pump gas) to Bellingham Wa, where the first time I got gas I sat in my car for 5 minutes waiting for the attendant, only to remember that I now have to pump gas. Then we moved to PA just over the Jersey border. My husband almost took a job in Boise ID. Here’s what I…

@xbowhunter congratulations in 90 days! That is really impressive, and I’m so happy for you. I know you’ll keep the streak going because of your insight into how you just cannot moderate. You are very wise. That said, I wonder why it is that some people can moderate, and some cannot. Isn’t that weird? Seriously, has anyone…

I celebrated a colleague’s birthday yesterday with champagne last night, and she poured me half of a second glass, so I went over my limit of one before I even got home. Then hubby had a glass of wine waiting for me, which I drank because… … I did something stupid. I tried to update our scanner at work, and now it won’t…

@tmbg1 way to hang in there! Those cravings are no joke. @chicbuc I love the pictures! Amazing that he started at 9, but with a Karate background, he has a nice head start on balance, core strength, power and flexibility for dance. I wish him the best in what is sure to be a bright career. @SurferGirl1982 it’s a deal!!!…

Only one glass of wine last night… that’s four days in a row of less alcohol! Plus, my weight is coming down, and it’s a combo of reining in the calories and alcohol, and exercising. Yay! Congrats @NonnieDoiron on your son’s wins! He definitely needs a larger medal rack! @globalhiker thanks for the motivation, and I’m…
@Womona I will tell you the Mexican jail story soon 😕 Just remember that I was young!
We all did stupid *kitten* when we were young!

Only one glass of wine last night at home. Yay, but now I’m thinking it’s time to try skipping days, or at the very least, dropping down to LA wine (once I get to the store). I still haven’t tried my NA red wine yet, I should crack that open. I went to lunch with a friend yesterday, not intending to drink. I explained that…

@SurferGirl1982 now we need to hear the Mexican jail story! 🤪🤪 Seriously, what you’ve been through is a lot! Big hug, we all have your back. @MissMay hugs to you as well. I guess he prefers to have a drinking buddy, but still, I’m not understanding how you not drinking impinges on his good time. Maybe he feels (true or…

@chicbuc there is something about an open bottle of wine, especially with one glass left in it, that makes me want to say “well let me just go ahead and kill this off.” I must remember that I am not a human garbage dump!
-
@globalhiker congrats on 100 days! Very inspiring, and so happy to hear you feel like a million bucks! @xbowhunter you’re right on her heels! You’re so close to 90 days, we can all taste it. Of course we’ll celebrate with you! Only one glass of wine last night and tonight. Very proud of myself! Yesterday I wanted to go to…

I wish there was a “love” button on this. So happy to hear that cravings do lessen.

Had a really great time at the Christmas party last night, and only had 1.5 glasses of wine. But then they came out with these shots of Irish cream served in tiny little mason jars with a tiny little lid on top. Very cute presentation, and because they weren’t strong (I suspect it was more for the flavor than the alcohol),…

@NonnieDoiron I love your plan for next weekend! Sorry to hear this weekend didn’t turn out like you wanted.
-
It will probably come off as a big “whoosh”, but boy, do I feel your pain. It will happen, fear not!

This is so incredibly helpful. I saved a picture of this post on my phone! My favorite LA wines, both Sauvignon Blanca, are Decoy Featherweight (I’ve only seen this at Joe Canal’s in NJ, PA state store doesn’t seem to carry it), and Starlight , made by Starfish. @Michieb125 I also copied your suggestion. Thanks!

I wanted a glass of wine at 3:50 PM yesterday, but held off until 5:00. It didn’t even occur to me to have a NA substitute, even though I have plenty of options! This of course was followed by two glasses of wine at dinner (my hubby made pasta and homemade bread- guess whose weight is way up today and way over calories?).…

@NonnieDoiron sorry to hear about your MIL, that pretty much seals off that option. It may be too late to get long term care insurance, or the premiums will probably be sky-high. It very well may be cheaper to just pay out of pocket. Ugh, what a situation. As for the other father foisting the responsibilities on to you,…

Two glasses of champagne last night on “wine night” at work-my colleague brought it in to celebrate my birthday (that I had last week). I’m off today, and excited to get the candles in the window, and interior Christmas decorating done. The tree isn’t for another week or two so I don’t kill it.

My weight loss journey is feeling like my golf game…. I get better at putting, and my drives go to hell. Try to improve my short game, and my putting sucks again. I concentrate on logging and moderating my food and alcohol intake, and exercise gets blown off for the week. I commit to attending all my exercise classes, wake…

It is soooo frustrating when our elders don’t follow medical advice, or take care of themselves in general (and hey, I guess that happens at any age). I find it extremely hard to adopt the “not my circus, not my monkeys” attitude, but for self preservation, it’s something we have to do. As for the trash, OMG do I feel…

I wound up having 3 glasses of wine last night, but the party went late into the night, so I didn’t get wasted. Tonight was 1.5 glasses. Not my best. Tomorrow is a new day!
-
@SurferGirl1982 geez, what are we in, 7th grade????? I remember you mentioning a run in with that other person a few weeks ago. Any way to block her or not see her posts? How frustrating. Welp, she did self identify as “selfish and self-centered.” When people tell you who they are, believe them. At any rate, so glad you’re…

We’re all in this together, and I really appreciate everyone’s stories, ups and downs. And, of course the support here. Made it really easy to only have one glass of wine tonight with dinner! Didn’t even want to tip it off.

@xbowhunter all the holiday parties are indeed tempting!!! I have the first one tomorrow night. I won’t be AF for them, but will limit to no more than two drinks. Which means I need to seriously rack up some AF days to counterbalance the party nights! Plus, I don’t want to get sloppy drunk in front of anyone, and not be…

One glass of regular wine, and about half a glass of my LA wine to kill off the bottle. Not bad!
-
I go through that as well, and I definitely find it’s TOM/PMS influenced, in addition to how much sodium I’ve consumed. I expect the fluctuations, but as others have said, it’s the overall trend that matters. I feel your pain, though!!
-
@NonnieDoiron I’m praying for you as well. I know you are in the vortex of hell right now.
-
I’m in! Happy December! Thanks for keeping us going @MissMay!

I didn’t overdo it yesterday- one glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday, and one glass of wine at dinner. So glad I didn’t go for that cocktail before dinner-the champagne at home was enough! Took it easy and had a great nap. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend, and see you in the December thread!
