  • So you'll be closing this group soon? That's sad only because I doubt I'll be able to monitor MFP and that site, especially during work hours. Plus, I think it's helpful to be able to direct people on MFP's general boards with questions about EM2WL to this group instead of an entirely different site. I feel like you might…
  • THIS! These topics always bring out the how dare you judge crowd, probably because obesity is a sensitive topic. Everybody judges everybody - it's what you do in first impressions. You observe someone and make a decision on them. People need to stop pretending that it doesn't happen.
  • This. I've started on focusing on my protein macro and find that if I think about how much I'm getting each meal, especially if I can plan most of the day ahead of time, then I'm not freaking out at 10pm that I need a protein shake to get the #s up. I am by no means a "clean eater" (I eat Lean Cuisines almost daily for…
  • Feel free to add me. I eat about 1900 cals a day and am almost done with the weight loss part of my journey. Now I'm moving towards maintaining, toning and getting up that darn protein :)
  • I weigh myself almost every morning, as soon as I wake up, even after a big meal out at a restaurant. I like to see how my body reacts to the excess sodium, etc. Keeps me in the zone to continue with the process, I guess. And I lost all my weight very slowly so the slight increase or decrease doesn't bother me at all. If…
  • I agree with consciously thinking about getting in protein, and the rest kind of falls into place. I generally am under on fat and right at or slightly above carbs. I try to plan my meals and snacks to make sure they all have at least some protein, and in a pinch, and protein shakes as dessert definitely helps. My protein…
  • When I first signed up a year ago, MFP put me at 1200 - I lasted about 4 days before I wanted to kill someone. I was eating 1400-1500 (and eating back some exercises calories) for most of my weight loss. Now that I'm moving towards toning and maintenance, I've increased my calories to 1700, with a goal of 2000ish.
  • I've been giving my blender a workout the last couple weeks with different kinds of smoothies. Also the greek yogurt/ granola/honey combo is perfect for breakfast or snack.
  • It also puts it in "my topics" because you replied, so if there was information you wanted to read later, or links with recipes, for example, then you'd only click on "my topics" and they'd be at your fingertips.

  • I've been adding the calories slowly, mainly because I don't think I was ever on a VLCD diet (never ate below my BMR, for example). The slow and steady has definitely worked for me. I've increased by about 100 every 4 weeks and I've continually lost and have seen my body become more defined. My cut goal is 1850, currently…
  • Anyone please feel free to add me as a friend as well. The more the merrier in this journey!
  • And this is where I get confused. Is it really only about time? Because if I do a HIIT/ tabata workout for 15 minutes, which is fairly intense interval training, I am definitely working out harder as far as HR (sweating, breathing, cals burned etc.) is concerned than if I was on the elliptical for 40 minutes.
  • I do both bodyrock and ZWOW, and since I started 3 months ago, I've definitely seen results. My abs are more defined and my thighs have gotten noticeably thinner. I'm wearing shorts I haven't worn in 2 years. Much more noticeable results than my previous working out routines of cardio w/ strength classes here and there.…
  • Do you sit during the day at your job or are you constantly on your feet? I would think that being on your feet all day picking up after people in addition to gardening, etc. would fall more in the moderate, but since I'm confused about me, I may be wrong. Question: Does Scooby have formal definitions of their exercise…
  • My macros are currently at 45-25-30 (carb, protein, fat). I tend to be a big carb eater, so I've trimmed it down from 50 and have slowly increased the other 2. This sets my protein goal at 100, which is doable for me on any given day without trying too hard or going out of my way to have a protein shake. In that regard, it…
  • I believe I put myself in the moderate category. My goal is to workout 5-6 days a week - sometimes less if things come up. I don't have a set schedule. I usually take 1 day off during the week and maybe 1 on Friday or Saturday. I workout after work so it depends if I have other events to go to at night or if I'm just lazy…
  • Bodyrock routines are really short - generally 12-15 minutes. Mixes cardio moves like high knees and burpees with squats, pushups, etc.
  • I use EAS protein powder in chocolate and vanilla. A tub of it is around $20 at Target and it mixes really well with water and in a blender bottle. About 120 cals and 24g of protein. I also like their Advantedge low carb drinks - about 110 cals and 17g protein. I take them to work since they're much more transportable.
  • I agree. Last summer I bought all new pants because I assumed that I was at my new weight. Now they're all way too big. Even pants I bought in Sept/Oct are too big, so I walk around with a baggy butt and a safety pinned waist. I got them taken in but there's a point where they can't because then the butt pockets are too…
  • I have the Polar FT4, which I found on amazon for about $60-65. Less bells and whistles than FT7 but so far so good. I like having an HRM because it helps me push myself. I know what I burn when I go to a step class so the HRM keeps me from slacking off. And it was shocking to me how off machines were - over 100 cals.
  • Thanks for all of the input everyone. Yeah, it's definitely a mental hurdle for me to wrap my head around 1) eating more calories and 2) possibly gaining muscle. My fiancee has been doing P90X so I may start to incorporate that into my routine, in addition to BodyRock to increase weight training. Thanks again!
  • Thanks, I understand all that, and I was doing body pump, etc.. I'm not focused on the fact that I gained weight because I lost it and now I weigh less than I did even before I gained it all, so woohoo for me! My main question is I'm currently on a 1480 cal/day plan per MFP but when I enter my information into that Scooby…
  • Thanks for responding. No, I have no idea how many calories I was taking in because I wasn't tracking then, but it's not like I was eating out daily and eating fried foods and wings daily. From what I can guess based on how I've been eating the last year, it was 1 more scoop of pasta here, 1 chipotle bowl there, higher…
  • BUMP?
  • You can also just make simple changes to your food going forward. Instead of eating 1 taco for dinner, just eat 2. If you know you're not getting enough calories then add more sides to your meals - include salads with olive oil dressing and cheese, side of black beans or pasta or rice. And FYI, people weren't rude pointing…
  • My cats interrupt whenever I workout at home. If I'm lying down to do abs or something, they want to sit on my stomach and hang out. Yesterday I had my mat out to prepare for some pushups, and after my cardio portion, my cat was snoozing on it. They also get waaaaay too close during my kickboxing DVD's. There have been…
  • Exactly! I had a terrible day at work yesterday and then I got stuck in traffic so I had a Bud Light Lime at dinner....which put me over for the day, but I knew I was under both previous days so it's all good. Takes 3,500 calories to make 1 pound, so 200 over for 1 day won't even register.
  • I have the "Interval Timer" for my iphone and it's actually pretty easy to set up. On the front page there's an i in the corner so touch that and it brings up the screen to change all the settings. Then you just touch each piece of information to set it for your workout. I use it for bodyrock so mine look like this: Number…
  • My fiancee and I met playing kickball and it was not love at first sight. We were both dating other people - although both relationships weren't going so well - so we became friends and hung out with all the other kickball teammates for about 6 months. Then I was single, he was single a few months later (although everyone…
