Thank you everyone for your responses and help!!! I will def start trying to ice my feet and look into a "night boot." When I have my follow-up with my doc in a couple weeks, I will talk to her about seeing a podiatrist to try to get some orthotic inserts. Maybe they will have someone they (the clinic) use that don't…

Hmmm... I didn't think about the back issue. I do have degenerative disc disease and a slightly bulging disc in my lower back (and I do get sciatica nerve pain as well from time to time). The pain in my foot, however, is only when I'm working out or standing for long periods of time. When I have a follow-up with my doc,…

Yeah, I'm sure my weight doesn't help the situation. Yeah, my doc said if it doesn't get better, she'd send me to a podiatrist...problem is I don't have health insurance. Right now I go to a clinic that works on a sliding scale. Ugh.

I can't take ibuprofen, nsaids (i.e. anti-inflammatorys) or aspirin. So, I guess it's Tylenol for me (which doesn't work as well, usually, imo). Oh well. What's a night splint? And icing...afterward, I'm assuming?

Can I join in?

Each facility is certainly different. The place m'love is at does not feed them well....at all! I've tried their food when I've gone to visit him (they can have their lunch tray delivered to them at the visit). My last visit with him, one of the things on his tray was pineapple...I figured i'd try it, 'cuz really, how can…

I think it should be logged. I walk on campus to and from class and a lot of back and forth, and I log it. Someone made the point that your body is already used to it, so don't log it....I disagree with that reasoning though, personally. My body is used to me going to the gym and using the elliptical now 2-3 times a…

My goals for Sept: -Fast the six days of Shawaal -Stay away from soda (I'm thinking maybe allowing myself one a week...what do you all think?) -Work out (elliptical; jump rope) at the gym every Monday, and Wed...and hopefully Thurs. -Work out at home Tues, Fri and Sat (mostly abs and other muscle strengthening) -Lose 5-10…

Awww...thank you. :)

Asalaamu alaikum sis....I don't know if I'll do the six days of shawal yet (depends on TOM). But, I will def join in on this group for the month of Sept.

Sis Bosanka..congrats on the job offer! Alhamdulilah! Alhamdulilah this Ramadan was soooo much easier than last year's....I didn't get a single migraine this month (which is unheard of practically, I get migraines usually at least twice a month...and even more during Ramadan). Allahu akbar! Ramadan went so quick this year,…

Awesome work!!!! You are doing amazing so far. :)

Years ago when I was in the Army, I was on the post boxing team...I absolutely LOVED IT! We trained 5-6 hours a day, Mon-Fri and then 4 hours Sat and Sun. It was intense...but I enjoyed it so much. I still have my wraps, gloves and shoes...sadly though, no heavy bag around here for me to hit. :( I'd buy one, but no room to…

I'm still kinda new to MFP so I'm lost as to what the ANNIE 50-40-30-20-10 etc is all about. Can you explain it? Hahaha...I'll try that once I get better with jumping. After every 20 or 30 jumps, I mess up....lol.

Salaam...jazak'Allahu khairn to everyone for their support. I went to the doc today and he said that I just need to rest and ice my knee but that it's nothing serious, alhamdulilah. He said the most important thing is to listen to my body. He said that in a few days I should be okay to be back to doing my regular workout,…

I'm seriously bummed today. :( I was supposed to go to a free zumba thing tonite that a friend of mine was leading. But there is just no possible way for me to zumba right now...my right knee has been in so much pain. I know I mentioned my knee was hurting last week...it started feeling a bit better Sunday and Monday. So,…

Sis bosanka....alhamdulilah! You make some excellent points, masha'Allah. Jazak'Allahu khairn for the beneficial post. :) I came across an article about "tabata interval training" and how it might help during Ramadan. Honestly, I didn't know what tabata was before I read the article. Anyways, I thought I'd share the link…

Yeah, I've been using a heating pad in the evening as well. It does help. As for your scale saying you gained 3lbs....muscle weighs more than fat.... so it may be that you're gaining muscle and that's why the scale is showing you gaining weight.
-
WOWOW!!! I have to agree with everyone else....You look AMAZING! You don't look like the same person, AT ALL....and you look so much younger. CONGRATS!!!!! Two quick q's....how tall are you? I ask because, well, 155 would be a weight I'd be happy with...and I'm 5'3. And, how long did it take? I'm just starting out on my…

Welcome back.

I haven't posted in here for about a week or so. I did my weigh-in Friday and I have lost 6.4lbs since I bought my scale (the previous Fri). So, I'm super-excited about that! The past few days I've had to deal with pain in my lower back (degenerative disc disease, blah) and in my right knee (I think I pulled a tendon or…

I asked this question in another thread and was given this link to a site that helps you calculate body fat %: http://www.livestrong.com/tools/body-fat-calculator/ Insh'Allah, this helps.

I haven't posted in here in a while. I need to buy myself a pedometer (preferably one that tracks distance as well) I think. Anyone have a suggestion on a good one? So far, I know I have done at least 5 miles....but, I'm sure it's been more than that, just not sure how much more. :/

That's awesome!!! :)

HAHA the title of the thread made me chuckle.... Great job on the weight loss! And, what a great NSV story!

My family likes to eat out as well. What I've discovered is that most restaurants have nutritional guides on their websites, so maybe you can look up their menu in advance and check the nutritional values before you go out to eat. This way you already have a plan in place as to what you will order and how many calories,…

Walaikum aslaaam sis smb....welcome to the thread. Yep, I was surprised and so happy to see so many Muslims on MFP! Alhamdulilah! :) I didn't exercise yesterday 'cuz I was in a lot of pain. :( Insh'Allah, today will be better. I did miss suhoor this morning though, so it will be a long day for me. Alhamdulilah it's Friday…

Sister bosanka.....I agree with you 100%. Our bodies are a gift from Allah and one that we should be taking care of....that means staying in shape (or getting into shape, if you're like me); it means making healthier choices and being more aware of what we eat and what we do (i.e. exercise, or be lazy). And for some of us,…

Asalaamu alaikum....Sorry I haven't posted in here in a while. My back is still sore...still spasming. I went to the doc on Monday and she said that one of the best ways to prevent back pain is lose weight (duh!)...and I told her I'm already working on that. She also gave me some stretching exercises to do and a muscle…

Oh no sis Bosanka....be careful! I'm glad your husband was taking care of you. Dexter....haha...great idea, insh'Allah! :)
