  • Totally depends on the instructor. There are hard classes and easy classes. I teach Zumba and my heart rate monitor tells me I burn about 800 calories per hour. I am literally dripping sweat onto the floor. My clientele like to have their butts kicked :)
  • I'm itching to have another baby because I miss having a little snuggle worm that can't run away from me when I want to snuggle it. I think I'm going to be super sad after #2 turns into a toddler. I'm so lame - I'm already getting sad about a baby I haven't conceived yet turning into a toddler. Stupid uterus.
  • Perez Hilton!
  • I used Hydroxycut when I was younger - it made me feel jittery and I had no appetite. I thought it was awesome because I thought food was the enemy and I mistakenly assumed I could eat less calories and use the Hydroxycut to "rev up my metabolism." I was totally ignorant about my health and I wasted time and money. Healthy…
  • You are a great inspiration to all of us! Also - your Halloween costume was pure awesome, and you rocked the heck out of it :)
  • Taking care of sick little ones is way more important than a few hundred calories. Hang in there, and work your butt of when you get that time to yourself! Don't stress :)
  • Someone on here once used the paper towel analogy: When you take one paper towel off of a full roll, it doesn't make much difference in the size of the roll. If you take one paper towel off when the roll is almost empty, the roll gets smaller faster because that one towel is wrapped around a few times. Weight loss is kind…
  • Any time you change your diet, you can end up with pooping problems. It will resolve itself as your body adjusts to processing different food. That "weight loss" is coming! Water, fibre, and some good veggies should help you out. If you need some more help, coffee and licorice can have a laxative effect. I'd hold off on…
  • I never used a crib bumper. I don't trust them, either. My son bumped his head a few times, but eventually he figured out that he doesn't like banging his head on the crib, and he stays away from the edges now. I think the mesh bumper is a good alternative - especially if your little one gets their arms and legs stuck…
  • We just had our family over for the afternoon and had a bunch of appies set out. By the time Max played around and opened presents, he was starting to get tired, so we did cake and then everyone left! I didn't do a theme because we didn't have a ton of people over, I just had balloons around for photo ops. (I'm no help...)…
  • Yes - because if you don't eat the exercise calories or the breastfeeding calories it can leave you with too large of a deficit - making you grumpy, tired, and hungry!
  • These sound so good! Thanks for the recipe!
  • Welcome! I need snacks, I get too hungry between meals. I try to have easy snacks (because who has time to make snacks?) with some protein to keep me full. I like: Greek yogurt Almonds Cheese Homemade muffins Carrots and other veggies with hummus Oatmeal cookies ... they're good for milk production ... that's my excuse…
  • In for the test results! I had no symptoms with my son, and whenever I do have "symptoms" they just end up being PMS. Go figure.
  • I think the best place to start is with logging your food, so you have an idea of how much you are currently eating and the breakdown of micro/macro nutrients. You can add calories for breastfeeding into your diary - a standard amount is 400 for exclusive breastfeeding. Most women will recommend that you eat back your…
  • Never tried it but I want to! I can burn 600-700 in a regular spinning class, so I'm sure once you add the resistance of the water in, you're going to get a great workout. Extra bonus of not being trapped in sweat-drenched clothes, too! Have fun!
  • This is more than a success story, it's true inspiration. You are an amazing woman, I hope everyone reads this! :flowerforyou:
  • @BeckyJill - I think having your husband on board makes the biggest difference! My husband said the same thing, and it thought it was so cool of him! Definitely makes dealing with the questions of anyone else much easier when you know you have that support!
  • Great advice, neandermagnon! Couldn't have said it better. After 15 months of putting my baby to sleep, I'm in the best shape of my life, haha! Being "on call" 24/7 will use up more calories, but I've always looked at it as an extra midnight strength training session :) Good luck with the little one!
  • I don't think there's a substitute for good chocolate. I eat chocolate almost every day. I work it in to my diary and never regret a single bite.
  • An Electronics department - they're pretty common batteries!
  • Nobody really asks me about breastfeeding anymore, they just assume I have stopped because Max hit the magical 12 months (He's 15 months now). I think the older generations are just used to having babies on formula or weaned at earlier ages. And some of them are clueless about nutrition in general - and want to feed babies…
  • For me, exercise is "me time." Either my husband or my mom watches my son and I head to the gym to take a class that I love. Having that chance to get out of the house on my own keeps me sane, and the exercise keeps me happy and gives me energy. The weight loss just became an extra benefit. It's probably hard to juggle two…
  • You're so right - there is no blue ribbon for hitting your pre-preg weight. It's a goal that many women set and I don't think there's anything wrong with achieving it, but I also think women who don't hit that weight and who don't want to make it their focus are perfectly normal moms too! Good luck with your goals! BTW…
  • All I can say is WOW! This is a great success story :flowerforyou:
  • I didn't do it with my first, but I'm not opposed to it. I just think the absolute last thing that I care about after pushing out a baby is where my placenta is and if it's properly taken care of. I'm like "gimme my baby!!!!!"
  • Look at you go! Impressive change! You look so happy in the picture on the right :)
  • No suggestions here, I just wanted to say I think you're a great dad
  • Love your story! Thank you for writing this! You are an inspiration, you make me want to go to the gym right now! You are totally rocking those bikinis!
