Hi, I'm a 45 year old teacher from Alberta, Canada. I love hiking with my dog and did my first 1/2 marathon this past July. I recently took up mountain biking and I love it. I've lost 20 pounds so far and have roughly 25 more to go.

A couple of nsv this month: Made it to the watertower (a point on a mountain bike trail I ride) without stopping. Fit into a dress I haven't worn in years.

Most important thing is to be supportive. If you have her over for dinner, ask her for special requests (i.e. Sugar free beverages) but please don't be preachy. My daughter has type 1. One of the most frustrating thing for her is when people tell her she can't have something because she's diabetic. This even happened in a…

Eating out is doable if you plan. I usually pick the restaurant, so I pick somewhere that I know will have food I can eat. Also, certain cuisines (like Vietnamese) have options I know I enjoy and can fit into my macros. If I'm in a strange city and we're trying something new, I try to find the menu online. Finally, since…

I'm starting over too and need to drop 50 pounds to get to a healthy weight. I'm also an English teacher (high school) so I'm very active during the summer but I slip into bad habits during the school year (skipping work-outs because I'm too busy/tired, treats in the staff room, coffee with cream during my commute, crappy…

I can tolerate hearing these, but I can not stand seeing them in writing Gonna, shoulda, coulda, woulda And even worse is Using "of" instead of "have". "I should of gone to the dentist" or "He could of won a million dollars".

Or my make-up

I can't find my i-pod, helmet, shoes, water bottle . . . . .

I don't want to change into my workout clothes.

I like wine with some of my meals and I like to go to the pub to watch football and have a few drinks. I can't do this everyday (I suspect a good portion of my current condition can be attributed to beer and pub food); but I plan for it as best I can and pre-log before I go out. And yes, when I go out I usually stick to…

Others have mentioned swimming, another alternative to swimming is water walking. I did that after leg surgery. I know, totally different part of body, but maybe it won't make you as sore as swimming.

Not as good as a cosmo but at only 100 cals for a "single" or 175 cals for a "double", it will do. 1 or 2 oz of vodka (I use Schmirnoff) 3 oz of diet Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice 1/2 cup of club soda twist of lime

I've "technically" been on mfp since 2011, but only discovered the online community this August when I lost my blackberry and had to start logging from my computer; so in many ways I feel like a "newbie". I am 43 years old; a mother of 4 children aged 13-20 and a high school English and Social Studies teacher. I also teach…

I make something I call a "Veggie Bag". It's just a large freezer bag filled with fresh vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, snap peas, and celery sticks). I make it the night before and take it to work with me, so when someone puts out donuts or cookies I take out my veggie bag to munch on. I also make them up…

Ok, one before before I go for my run. I'll go right after I log and then spend an hour or so on MFP. Yup, I'm blaming you guys . . . . . Ok, seriously, gotta go for my run.

I can't find my . . . . . sunglasses, I-pod, ear-buds, pedometer, helmet, any or all of the above. Is there a correlation between weight loss and memory loss???? BTW I have four teenagers who are always "borrowing" my stuff.
-
Two friends from work got zips last spring and raved about it. I just got mine a month ago and love it, love it, love it. My husband has a couple of HRMs that he's offered to lend me, but I'm just comfortable with my zip.

Agreed: I'm not doing drive-thru breakfast in the morning, I"m brown bagging it to work, no more "after work" snacks on my way home from work, and no more pizza, chinese, or KFC for supper. Consequently, while my grocery bill has gone up, my net food bill has gone down.

I've been up and down in my weight over the years. At my biggest I was a DD. At my smallest they were C. I anticipate becoming a C again and I can't wait, because DD hurts my back. My back pain was one of my reasons I decided to get back into shape.

I suppose I do a combination of many of the suggestions. First, I grab an apple, then tell myself I can have a treat at the end of the day, if there's still room. I try to leave 100-200 calories in my "daily menu" for the end of the day, in case I want a treat.. Trigger foods (I used to be a binge eater-so I definitely…

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

Potato chips and McDonald's french fries. These are trigger foods for me. Like the commercial says "I bet you can't eat just one". And it's true, I can't. I CAN however, eat just about anything else in moderation.

I walked 8 miles today with my dog. I doubt I could go 3 miles a month ago.
