  • I would think it OK, unless it had something weird in the ingredients. I have a brand I buy from Walmart. Never thought twice about taking it while nursing. Best place to ask is the kellymom.com forum.
  • They should be teaching good nutrition and health yliving to ALL children and families, whether they are obese or not. So many skinny folks eat crap and don't exercise. I don't think it's right to single this particular family out. My daughter was VERY obese as this age due to drinking too much milk, however, after we cut…
  • Yep, that's why I rarely watch t.v.
  • You should have eaten more like 2600 calories. Eating too little will make you muscle weight. As for your food choices, it's very natural for your body to crave fat and sugar when you're starving...It's also really normal for your body to 'take over' when you're starving. It's called self-preservation. A few red flags here…
  • How long have you been at it for? Maybe you haven't waited long enough or maybe you're gaining muscle? Since you haven't got that much to lose, maybe getting your body fat measured and/or taking measurements would give you a more accurate idea of what's going on.
  • Great post! I've been on my journey about 6 months. It occurred to me today that my journey has been 2 steps forward, 1 step back. But I'm still getting there!
  • He might. For someone who's never exercised to suddenly do something this intense, he might have a heart attack and die, who knows. Or more likely, injure himself. I wouldn't risk it. If you really want to do it, be sure to get the green light from your doctor first.
  • Sometimes we women get the idea we can micro-manage our man's life. Or make him our personal project. Please try to resist the temptation. It's his body, he's an adult. Try to focus on your own weight loss.
  • I think there is nothing inherently wrong with the phrase 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels'. It can be very motivating if taken the right way. Some people find it very helpful to put a picture of themselves at a lower weight on their fridge to motivate them. I can see that there are people who starve themselves…
  • I"m on low carb. Most days I stay around 50 grams net (carbs - fiber grams). It has been very helpful for me in terms of appetite reduction. I find if I add wheat back my appetite increases like crazy.
  • It's bound to be mostly water weight! There are no shortcuts to long-term weight loss, I"m afraid!
  • I would be thrilled to be 175!!!
  • Love it! The kind I get works for my low-carb diet as well. Yum!
  • I don't know how you keep going... As for me, I suffered intensely today at dinner. Beef, chicken, fish and all the steamd veggies I wanted. To top that off, I choked down a chunk of cheddar cheese. I just can't keep going on this way.
  • How about repying, "It does seem like you've gained a bit of weigh recently..."
  • Can you explain the diet a bit more? And what your own diet is like? Having people with different needs doesn't have to make mealtimes hard. I'm on a low carb diet right now. For dinner I cook meat and low carb veggies. Then some higher carb veggies plus potatoes or rice for my kids. They share whatever meat/fish I'm…
  • Splenda's my friend.
  • What a stupid thread. I found learning to drive easy. Therefore it should be easy for everyone. I also find advanced math easy. Therefore advanced math should be easy for everyone. I also find jumping out of a plane easy. Therefore it should be easy for anyone to jump out a plane. Yep. We're all the same, don't ya know.
  • Know that you can control your thoughts. And that your thoughts control your emotions. If you find yourself thinking negative things, try to replace the negative self talk and worries with positive thoughts. Some people will wear an elastic band on their wrist to snap if they have a negative thought. Talk back to those…
  • Congratulations!! Your start weight is approx where I'm at now. I would like to be where you are in 9months. Thanks for the inspiration! :D
  • *Caution tough love* To me, it sounds like you've come up with an excuse for not sticking to your diet. You've got diabetes? You need to be thinking about whether or not you want to keep your toes and eyesight. I have worked in health care and it's no joke. Did your husband tell you he'll divorce you if you lose weight?…
  • My weight problems started after I had my first child. I feel that something about pregnancy changed my body. Just like now, I used to eat sensible foods when hungry.Gained 45 pounds with the first. Lost it quickly no problem due to breastfeeding but gained it all back. My weight was stable for 5 years in between kids (my…
  • Welll, if you do this every day, eventually you'll disappear.
  • I got some info in a Primal newsletter today that said you shouldn't exercsie more than 4000 calories worth per week. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-you-shouldnt-burn-more-than-4000-calories-a-week-through-exercise/
  • There were some words in your diary I didn't understand, but from my general impression, looks like you are eating almost zero vegetables? It would be good for your health to add a few servings of vegetables every day. A bit more fruit would be good too. Lots of nutrition and fiber in these.
  • I saw your other post and also that you only had 2 pounds to lose and are a ballet dancer? This kind of raised some red flags for me as anorexia is quite common among ballet dancers. http://documentaryheaven.com/dana-the-8-year-old-anorexic/ Here's a good documentary on anorexia. I was susprised to see how quickly it can…
  • It's very common for people to underestimate what they'r eating-sometimes as much as 50%!! I would just listen to your body.
  • You do not have to only have healthy foods. You can have treats in moderation as long as you stay under your calorie goal. If you don't track the calories in a meal...yes, obviously that is a 'cheat'. It's OK to 'cheat' once in a while, but if you do this too much, you won't lose weight.
  • You're 18, so you can help with the shopping and dinner preparations. What kind of things are your parents eating for dinner? One simple thing is to just steam a bunch of veggies to have with whatever else you're family is having. One thing to remember is when dieting, unfortunately not everybody around is going to want to…
  • It's amazing how hunger can turn us into people we don't want to be. Been there, done that. Maybe try to put a list of suitable breakfasts on your fridge so you don't have to think.
