It is totally ok to pig out on healthy food. 4 oz of chicken is a few hundred calories. Vegetables are nothing. Go to town. You can eat a TON of steamed broccoli and it will have only postiive affects. What I wouldn't suggest is chewing gum with artificial sweetners to curb your appetite.

Also, when you get rid of the "low fat" food, you will find that it will provide those extra calories your body needs.

Your sugar numbers are way too high IMO. Your sugar consumption should primarily come from fresh fruit. Non-fat almost always has a higher sugar content also. Trying subbing out protein - like an egg for heavy carbs and sugar at breakfast. When I first started MFP, I scoured the recipe blog for cheater deserts high in…

I would buy a heart rate monitor. Sometimes the exercise calorie estimates are much higher than actual. Also, I eat snacks three times a day on days that I exercise. This helps me eat back my calories spread out my energy.

Good points sir

Copied and pasted an article below. I believe that target heart rates and Zone training has been debunked although still widely advised. I was very surprised to learn that this zone was false and in fact working out in high intensity workout like HIIT will burn more fat. Theory: "Only exercising in the fat burning zone…

If you compare anything "Low Fat" with the original product, you will usually find that they have doubled the sugar. In processed foods, this is done using High Froctuse Corn Syrup (usually), because it is half the cost of normal table sugar (they are equally bad for you).

Question for you crossfitters. I can't make the workout time happen with the "box" in my area, so I'm going to do the scaled back WOD's. We are planning on recording everything and using proper form. My question is, what do you suggest for a warm-up, or is it necessary? I'm thinking the scaled WOD's are going to knock us…

so no suggestions guys?

I agree with Jrich. Sounds like you have a GOOD plan in place already. No need to change it.

Your weight loss is an inspiration to others...think about it in those terms.

Just did my first HIIT cardio workout this week. I ran in my neighborhood. Sprinted from one light pole to the next then jogged then sprinted, etc. Did this 10 times. With the 5 minute warm-up it came to about 20 minutes. I was exhausted. Interesting part was that my sprinting got better and better it was my jogging that I…

LOL. I would force myself to get up each morning, and run my tail off. At least, you'll feel better than your buddies!

Sugar (and sodium) is in almost all processed foods. Its in almost all "low fat" items also. Eat "clean foods" not made by a chemist in a factory and use your sugar for real fruit, and you will do much better. Hope that helps! I went through the same thing myself.

I only started a month ago, but I figured I could give you a few things that helped me. 1) Oatmeal! at 150 calories per serving, it is low cal and it coats your stomach like cement. Instead of eating it for breakfast, I eat it in between meals, so I am not as hungry at meal time. 2) Junk Food makes me hungry! I started…

I also like egg, bread and cheese for breakfast. very filling

Had this problem when I started, and my calorie goal was the same. I stared eating 1 serving of oatmeal in between breakfast and lunch and another in between lunch and dinner. Its only 300 calories total, and is coats your stomach like cement. Its so effective at filling me up, that my wife has started doing it. Hope this…

Calorie deficit is all the matters right now, and protein is desirable anyway. However, I have heard that to transition to the Holy Grail of fitness...the sixpack (from Julian Michaels video), you have to cut out sugar, processed food and watch your sodium.

Today is my first "Spike Day". I'm giving it a four week trial run, and if I'm not pleased with the results I'm going back. My plan is to lose 2 lbs a week on MFP then eat 2x BMR on spike day. I'm still staying away from sugar, candy and processed foods though. In my case, I'm still getting a 4k calorie deficit weekly, so…

Check out HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. You can do these as your cardio. I'm going to start migrating my workouts this direction.

I have a parking garage where I park on the fourth floor, and my office is on the tenth. This week, I started taking the stairs instead of the elevator. I don't bother to log it, but it definitely spikes the heart rate up. I'm sure it will make my legs stronger too.

Ok, so I have to ask because one day I may want to take part in a 7 hour excercise. You are planning on 2X BMR the day before The Century, and then try to replace 4500 calories the next day also?
