  • I can't imagine having to train another husband. This one is pretty much perfect. So if anything happened to part us I think I would probably not go looking for a replacement. I am ok with my own company, however having said that I really do enjoy a good debate and I would miss that.
  • Lots of problems lately. I have been on MFP for 8 years and not had all these issues site seems to be falling apart.
  • This is something that I think we all have to face up to at some point. Shocker isn't it :o But it is good to be honest with yourself. I know I will have to tighten up my logging soon if I want to lose more weight. But at present with the lockdown I decided to maintain and that has been more sucessful than I thought it…
  • How you doin? That is amazing work you have put in to get where you are now. Well done you look very handsome in your new suit.
  • I miss my ticker. It was fun to have them on the forums, really brightened things up. But hey ho. There you go.
  • I changed to maintainance while in lockdown. My only aim is to not gain, if I do lose then great. It is difficult not to go rummaging in the fridge at odd times. I try to stick to my normal routine, eating at my normal times and mostly my usual foods. However during this stressful time I have added a few more treats into…
  • This might sound harsh but it is something that haunts me and helps me in equal measure. I don't want my husband, who also loves me no matter what I look like, to become my carer just because I "didnt need to try anymore" So many health problems appear with weight gain and lack of fitness. Losing weight to get women/men is…
  • I weigh every day and record it on a weight trending app. I use Libra for android. Strangely this has been the one thing that has stopped me being obsessed by the scale. Seeing the normal daily fluctuations come and go but the trend still going down has stopped me freaking out and giving up at the first sign of a gain like…
  • I am not very motivational but I will say this. Consistancy is more important than anything anyone else can say to you. Even if you don't feel like doing it anymore remind yourself that if you stop now you will have lost any progress you made and you have already back tracked and gained some, so work on losing the gain 1lb…
  • You can support her efforts by suggesting she join MFP (if she hasnt aready) If she is weighing and measuring her food and calculating the correct amount of calories 1500 should be enough for her to get the nutrition she needs and still lose weight. You can't make someone do things your way even if it is the right way,…
  • Definitley see your doctor/dentist. Nobody can diagnose you here as we are not medical professionals. Thrush is quite a common reason for white patches on your tongue but there are many other things that can cause it, some of them serious so if you can't get to your doctor or dentist perhaps you could get a phone interview…
  • MFP will tell you how many you need to eat. The deficit is already built in. Put your stats in, set your weight loss to a reasonable amount depending on how much you have to lose. If you only have a few lbs then don't go for more than .5 lb per week. If you have a lot to lose then you can choose a faster rate of loss but…
  • The only way to get where you want to be is to keep going. If I have learned one thing from the fine folks here on MFP is that patience is key. Weight loss is not linear it goes up and down for many different reasons especially with us females. Trust the process it does work, you will get there. As far as the photo is…
  • Not loving it enough to wait for replies to this post though. OP has left the building.
  • There are loads of us from all over the UK so you will find many friends here. I have both US and UK friends and love them all. You are very welcome to join my dysfunctional MFP family. I will send you a friend request. B)
  • Put your salad leaves in a clean tea towel pull the edges together and spin your arm around in large circles. Not only does dry your salad but you will burn a couple of extra calories doing it. :)
  • It means wash your hands and the produce before consuming. I prefer the term nutritious eating. Which to me means upping your intake of lean meats, fish, fruits and veggies. But we also need fun food in our lives so cake, biscuits etc are not off my menu as anyone can see from my diary. :)
  • Losing weight through diet changes, exercise of any kind, reducing salt intake, lowering stress levels. These are the basic things you can do to help lower your blood pressure. But, and it is a big but, you may HAVE to take medication to lower it if the above does not work. My husband is fit, slim, never smoked, never been…
  • If you are "off" then you won't make progress. If you are "on" then you will. You can't be motivated ALL the time but you can be consistant in the changes you make. Slow and steady wins this race.

  • Why don't you just use the MFP free version for a while and see what results you get. You may find that this is enough. Personally I don't see the point in paying to lose weight when I can do it free. Some seem to find the extra features suit them but as @sijomial says the site is flawed in some ways, so why pay for it.…
  • What I think of when I read the words Magnet and Water in the same sentence.
  • It is certainly quiet around here. I agree with a lot of the comments that it is probably to do with the lockdown and people finding other things to do and possibly not so diet focused. But I have noticed the change with the forums for some time now. I have said in previous posts that the fun has gone out of it a bit.…
  • Here in the UK THE tip of the day is STAY HOME. STAY SAFE. SAVE LIVES Anything else is secondary. Never heard of Tip of the Day on MFP sorry.
  • If you do gain weight by overeating you know you are overeating and you know you are gaining weight there is nothing unconscious about it. You are just ignoring the facts and going ahead and overeating anyway. The whole point of MFP is that logging, checking in, reading the forums, getting friends and taking on board all…
  • I think the OP was just venting. I don't think they are coming back. But for anyone lurking there is some great advice and comments on here. In almost all circumstances there is always something you can do to get fitter than you are now.
  • I guess I am lucky as no one has ever said anything negative about my weight loss, only ever had good comments. Having said that the only person who ever mentioned my weight gain was my now ex husband and that was one of the reasons he is an ex. :/
  • @PAV8888 I guess when most people think of the UK they think of the cities like London or Edinburgh etc in the same way as we think of the US we think of NY or Vegas. We have a spare room now our son has moved out, will rent it for a crate of Appletons Rum and a hamper of Belgian Chocolates. @Djproulx Scotland is the place…
