As the saying goes, "Don't lose your *kitten*, to spite your face."

Thank you for sharing your story and encouragement. Keep up the good work!

Vets often have large scales right in their lobbies for larger dogs that built right into the floor.

I'm struggling with that myself. Just keep in mind that you may gain weight on those special weeks due to water retention. Don't be too discouraged when this happens.

Here's a link that will definitely interest you. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom it gives you calorie ranges per age and sex based on physical activity level. It would appear you are pretty much on target with the 1800 calories. Hope this helps.…

I also lost 8 lbs. the first week and I know a lot of it was water weight. I doubt you were losing muscle mass that soon.

You will cause your body to dehydrate and may notice a slight loss on the scale due to the water loss but it will only be temporary.

I don't know your family and they may seem overbearing but maybe they are just expressing their concern for you. If you haven't already I would talk to your doctor about a safe exercise plan that takes into consideration all of your health issues. You don't want your health problems to worsen because you overdo it. Good…

I have low-blood sugar problems and i was told to eat approx. 12 nuts before bedtime to help regulate my sugar at night. I was also around 265 lbs. at the time and needed to lose weight. They certainly didn't want me to eat a ton of nuts. You probably misunderstood your nutritionist. Plus, not all nuts are created equal.…

I usually just go off my diet for a few days (like 2) and then get right back on it and that usually helps.

Hello Engineman, I live out in the country and we can lose power for weeks out here. By the way, if you can't say something nice keep it to yourself. We are all here to help each other out, not put each other down.

That's a great idea putting a blanket over the fridge. Kerri, I hear you on the ice cream. I already started on it last night :)
-
I am concerned about eating due to boredom too and if we lose power I won't be able to use my treadmill but I'm sure I will get plenty of exercise cleaning up. Stay safe.

I think it is good to feel just slightly on the edge of hunger. At least I like that feeling. Constantly feeling sated or bloated means I'm eating way too much.
-
It's funny because when I was skinny I was a miserable person :)

Can someone please tell me what NSV means? I'm new to MFP and I keep seeing it all over the site.

Check the battery on your scale too (if it has one)

You also want to stay away from coconut oil.

This sounds great. I have more zucchini than I know what to do with right now!

Are you still open for members?

You may be gaining a lot of muscle if you are exercising a lot.

My concern about this is that my body may go into starvation mode if I'm doing all this exercise and needing more food to support it. I have wondered if it is actually necessary to eat the extra calories (at least some of them) to prevent the body from going into a plateau. I have found on other diets that when I have…

A point is equal to 50 calories. If you go to this website it will give you the ranges for your weight: http://losing2gether0.tripod.com/losingtogether/id16.html

What I find is better about MFP is that it holds you accountable for the fats and carbs you are eating. On WW you aren't aware of how much fat and carbs you are eating. You could eat 100% fat and still lose weight. I'm much more conscious now of putting healthy food into my body.

My 3 year old daughter tries to get on the treadmill or put her toys on the treadmill with me. I can't workout before she gets up because she gets up too early. I'm with her 24/7 and it's not always possible to workout when she naps. So far I've gotten most of my workouts in but it is really frustrating when I'm…

I hadn't thought of Friday as a motivator for less splurging. I know that I take a day off on the weekend but I do splurge less when I see that I have lost/maintained weight.

I know what you are saying about backtracking. When I first started I gained weight and had to readjust my goals and it was very frustrating and depressing. I'd rather not do that all the time.

Are you still using the points system on your own or just tracking calories?
