  • I eat a quest bar every day after work - I find it's a nice treat, helps get my protein up and keeps me full for a reasonable period of time. Good happiness to calorie ratio IMO...
  • These are all amazing. My favorite is when you see people posting the woo and then note that they have been effectively performing X, Y and Z for 5 days. :|
  • Most people I know are vegan either for religious purposes or ethics/environment. I'll admit - when I found out Tom Brady was vegan I was tempted...
  • Not sure it would be meal prep necessarily but I batch cook dinners - this week it's: * Chicken with veggies (Carrots, green beans and brussel sprouts) * Not Lasagna - this is basically zoodles, spaghetti squash, roasted eggplant, onion sauteed with ground turkey with a jar of low calorie pasta sauce on top and sprinkled…
  • I don't inherently have an issue with them - I started my weight loss journey in January once upon a time so I get that. My issue comes when folks post about how they're going to lose XX amount of weight in XX amount of time using XX. I guess it's the same issue I have all year long, it's just magnified in January? I'm…
  • I've learned to wake up early enough to work out. However, prior to this I've: 1. Gone to gyms with day cares 2. Done "Just Dance" and other active/fun games with my daughter (they do wear you down...) 3. Had my daughter to yoga with me 4. Worked out while my daughter watches TV in the other room A lot will depend on how…
  • Be careful of number of servings - I know at PF Changs the nutrition is for usually 1/3 or 1/2 of the serving. For a Dominoes item I would imagine this to be the case since the assumption may be the item is shared.
  • I effectively started waking up early to workout about 3 months ago. I've attempted this in the past but always failed to maintain the habit (until now). I've attributed my success to: 1. Not allowing myself to press snooze 2. Drinking pre-workout every morning (I know it's overpriced and blah blah but it's delicious and…
  • I think of the Peloton strength classes as "fun" when I can't make it to the gym for whatever reason. That's not to say they're easy but they're not structured so doing a shoulders/back 10 minute with instructor A will be different from doing it with instructor B, etc. I believe the 10 min classes were developed so they…
  • Risotto - made properly with tons of cheese... o:)
  • I found that I overate on the Whole30. It was fun and got me into cooking but really screwed up my weight loss (especially because in a true Whole30 you are not allowed to count calories or step on the scale). For me, fat doesn't do much to fill me up so increasing fat and decreasing carbs and not counting calories meant I…
  • I'm in the same boat :) I just ordered one of these to use with my cheap door hinge pull up bar: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VJN944K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Seems to be working well but we'll see..
  • This thread is enabling me to buy a new pair of running shoes this weekend :# ...
  • @hcdo how much ice are you using? I usually do 8-10 cubes of ice with half a scoop of protein powder (Quest - I highly recommend it and it seems as though throughout the thread Quest protein powder users have been highly successful) then a big splash of milk plus any shenanigans. I really only use the Xanthum gum to…
  • There's no point to milk chocolate
  • Whenever I do squats after any sort of workout hiatus I get SUPER sore for days. I usually just walk/run and get back to it. It will go away pretty quickly. So it may be you just need to give it another shot! It will get easier...
  • @hcdo I wonder if you blended too much? I usually only have to blend for a total of 5 minutes (1 minute to shave the ice, 2-3 minutes to blend in milk, protein powder, vanilla & sweetener, then 1 more minute to blend in the Xanthum gum). If it's helpful, I use a small ninja and Quest protein powder.
  • A great goal is just going regularly and finding a way to make it fun. Once you figure out what you want to do then you can start coming up with a program/practical goals.
  • Do you have an Apple Watch? The Apple Watch HIIT activity does not sync with MFP. If I do HIIT, I have to log it as "Other" on my Apple Watch or else it won't work. Absolutely no need to upgrade to premium...
  • I love my Apple Watch - that said, it does not sync well with MFP (it doesn't do well when you combine a high step count with a lot of exercise). To me, it's worth it because I really like my Apple Watch and I've learned to workaround the issue. I'd do a search (there are a LOT of threads where people have issues syncing…
  • I recommend starting as comfortable as possible - maybe just hop on a treadmill and watch TV for half an hour. When I started at the gym I found a really easy going dance class and that was how I started group fitness. Eventually I got up the courage to do more difficult classes and later found the weight room. The most…
  • You may also want to check community centers - where I used to live ours had a great gym and you could pay per day (very reasonable cost)
