  • That's really good advice... Although, I find (rarely) that after a fast I'm not as hungry as I thought I'd be. I haven't had that slice of cake I fancied the day before or I've not had a ton of toast. My choices seem to be healthier even on a subconscious level. But, I'm still going to log on non fast days as brisingr…
  • Slow and steady that sounds like a plan!! We can keep each other motivated
  • Thanks rattiemomma that was really helpful advise!! Really excited now to get it. I've bought it in black... did want the stainless steel but it's an addition £79 for the strap! Il probably save up and get that next xx
  • Thanks everyone for your great advice. . . I'm thinking of starting off on a 5:2 and get used to doing fast days (as this is a first) Then up it to 4:3 Everyone seems to do a lot of working out - I'm pretty crap motivational-wise when it comes to exercise.. Being only 31 I lack stamina. I'd love love love to become a…
  • I like the fact that we question things... keeps my brain active I guess. People tend to do weight loss programmes that they find easiest. This one I like the idea of to be honest.
  • Hi Waffle, in response to your comment, I thought the same originally.. However after some research actually fasting for 2 days a week has many other scientifically proven positive effects on the body. It allows your body to heal rather than working on cells multiplying, giving your body chance to heal. Research has shown…
  • brisingr86 - thanks for that link, I've just watched the 'horizan' episode on the 5-2 fasting diet and it was really interesting on the positive impact it has on your health and ageing...in addition to weight loss.
  • Hi dotti1121 Its actually easier than it sounds. My first day was today and it hasn't bothered me that much. The time I struggle with the most is around tea time - or snacking after tea. What i am going to try and do is have a healthy breakfast around 150 cals, then not eat until dinner time which will leave me with enough…
  • You can switch them up however you want.. for example I'm going to fast Fridays and Mondays. But if next week something comes up, like we go away for a long weekend, il just change them to another day. The only thing you can't do is 2 days fasting consecutively. That's the beauty of this diet. ..it works around you.
  • dotti1121, the 500 calories aren't restricted to certain foods- for example if you really wanted something like a glass of wine you could. So long as you don't go over the 500 cals. But I think that as the diet progresses over time you learn to eat foods that are more filling for longer so you don't feel hungry.. as you…
  • Brisingr, thanks for your reply. I am finding it hard today. .. every where I look there seems to be food!! But it is the first day...just feel so good I've finally started! What's the 18.6 IF is that fasting from 6pm to 6 am? I'm pretty new to the idea of fasting so I'm not down with the lingo. What I like about this diet…
  • Hi dotti1121, yeah 5 days eating normally...so healthy with a few treats and on 2 of the days of the week you can't have more than 500 calories. I've started today-so this is my first fast day...why I chose a Friday I'm not sure. .think it was a strike whilst the irons hot !lol xx
  • Imrfixit So glad you've joined!! When are you thinking of starting the 5:2 plan? What's your target weight loss for the month? So pleased that your taking the step to a slimmer healthier you...and il be doing it with u!! We can keep each other going. I'll post up some recipes for the fast days soon. Xx
  • That's really good! ! Thanks for your comment triciagrey Today has been my first day of the 5:2 diet...today being a fast day.. not sure why I decided start on a Friday!
