Cold weather cycling and walking gear
Covid has pushed me out of the gym and into the elements. What are your must have gear for cold weather cycling and walking? I’m new to cycling, and my toes are frozen after more rides now, so clearly I need some tips!

Bike recommendations?
For someone interested in riding for about 30-60 minutes a go, sometimes (increasingly) for fitness, sometimes with the family for pleasure, usually flat pavement, sometimes gravel or hard packed dirt. I’m bewildered by all the possibilities of bike types and categories and am hesitant to walk in to a bike shop for “real”…

Protein bars without sugar alcohols/artificial sweeteners?
I’m a mostly vegetarian pescatarian (so fish maybe once a week, eggs maybe twice a week, not much milk/cheese), so I do supplement my protein to get enough to support my 5-6 day/wk heavy lifting habit. So to my question: anyone have a protein bar they love (or even don’t hate) that does not have sugar alcohols or…

Return to lifting after laparoscopic surgery
Any other lifters have laparoscopic abdominal surgery? What was your recovery and return to lifting like? Any observations on things that aggravated it/things it’s better to start with or delay? I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago. Yes, I’ve had my post surgery visit, healing fine, have my surgeon’s okay to return to…

Kayak recommendations?
Recommendations for a kayak? I’m planning on mostly flat water (lake), perhaps the occasional river. I have plenty of paddling experience with a canoe, I used to row (sweep) in college, and I have some kayaking experience. I’m looking for something that’ll get some speed and tracks well—basically I want to get a decent…

Done with FitBit--alternatives?
I'm on my third Charge HR and now it's battery won't hold a charge for over 8 hrs. Average lifespan has been 6 mo before they broke (other two had the plastic thing that holds the charger cable on rip off). I'm done. I like the product when it works, but I'm tired of the high death toll. Anyone have another tracker they…

Lower body ideas
I just got a few stitches in my upper arm and my doctor is adamant that I not do anything to tear out the stitches--so no lifting with my arms, not even yoga, not even holding a bar in my shoulders that someone else put there (yep, floated that work around and got shot down). I usually lift full body three times a week…

What prompted you to make a change?
Talking with a dr last night who is rather discouraged with patients who complain about symptoms that would be alleviated with weight loss (or who are increasing their already high risk of certain diseases bc of obesity), but who come back visit after visit with no change. He said he counsels them to get a handle on their…

Can't remember this weight!
I had my fourth baby in mid August, gained 60lbs. Before that, I was 137-8. I got down to 137 after 8.5 months, then 135, my college rowing weight. Today the scale said 133.5! I'm thinking I haven't seen that since elementary school! I don't have a good post baby pic, but here I am in the low 140s before starting New Rules…

Need strength training help from/for runners
I'm getting back into running after having my fourth baby 13 weeks ago and need some info on how to incorporate strength training I am currently running 3-4 miles, 3-4x/week with another 1-2 days of cross training (stairs/bike). I plan on doing a winter 10k or two and working toward a spring half marathon. I usually follow…

Losing weight post-baby
Baby boy #4 is 13 weeks old and I'm ready to lose this weight! I've done this three times before and I'd love some motivation & support from fellow mamas as I grit my teeth & get down to business
