Is body composition more than just CICO?
I want to get lean. Maybe lose a few pounds of weight, not much. But I don't want to become a smaller version of what I currently am. What should my diet be like?

Is a 3 day fast safe?
I'm very constipated and haven't gone in over a week :( I'm wondering if fasting for a few days or so will fix this issue since there will be no other incoming food to digest. If I just fast and keep drinking water, will it all eventually have no choice but to come out? Please don't suggest an enema. I've tried them but…

Will you lose weight as long as you're in a deficit?
Today I had some strong cravings so for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner I had half a pint of ice cream. I'm still about 500 hundred calories under maintenance and am thinking about calling it a day because I'm just not hungry anymore even though I've only eaten under 1300 calories. I also did over an hour of cardio today.…

Is it normal to gain weight after Thanksgiving even if not much was eaten?
For some reason, I wasn't feeling that hungry yesterday. I had cereal for breakfast. An apple and an an egg for lunch. And I didn't even have the main dinner for Thanksgiving dinner. Just the salad. I topped it with light Italian dressing. A while after dinner, there was regular pumpkin pie for everyone and sugar free…

Do 'negative' calorie foods exist?
Not negative calorie as in they have no calories at all but negative as in it takes more energy or uses more calories to digest them than they contain per serving. Kind of like a 3-5= -2 concept. I've heard the body burns calories digesting food but idk how much.

Not losing weight, help!
I'm 5'5 and about 140 pounds. I want to get to 115-120. I do resistance training 4 days a week and some daily walking. I don't eat grains, wheat, boxed foods, desserts, etc. I've grown attached to fruits as my "desserts". All my carbs come only from fruits, veggies, nuts, and nut butters. I eat lean proteins and healthy…

net carbs vs total carbs?
When eating low carb or keto, which of the two matters most? Net or total? I'm currently eating low carb which I started less than a week ago. My net carbs range from 30-50 but my total carbs range from 90-120. This is because I get approximately 60-70 grams of fiber per day. For example, today my net carbs are exactly 50.…

Are your bowel movements determined by what you eat the previous day or the day before that etc?
I know the title may seem weird but long story short, I have often struggled with chronic constipation, and I eat differently as in no set diet so its hard for me to pin point what food actually helped me NOT be constipated on few certain days. That's why I'm wondering if your bowel movements (as in regular, constipation,…

Why do people say weight loss is 70-80% diet and 20-30% exercise?
I exercise 2-3 hours a day and according to my fitbit my total burn is around 2500 calories and I consume around 1600 which is around my sedentary tdee. So I'm technically creating a (large) deficit through lots of exercise. So why is weight loss only 20% exercise if that's my main tool for losing weight and creating the…

Are vegetables and fruits really necessary?
So I'm 5'7 and last year after a 40+ pound weight loss I was down to 121. My step family is Asian and I happened to be spending more time with them because they were visiting (along with my uncle) for a year and a half. They were giving me lots of their leftovers of home cooked Asian food out of generosity. We also…

Can you lose weight by eating maintenance and working out (without eating exercise calories back)?
I lost my first 30 pounds or so mainly by reducing the amount of calories I ate with daily walks. Then I added a few days of light cardio exercise and ate a little bit more calories and eventually lost the next 15 pounds. I'm aiming for 15 more to go and have switched to intense cardio and added heavy lifting. But its…

Am I developing a Binge Eating Disorder or is this normal?
About a month ago I starting doing heavy lifting including squatting with weights (I used to squat without). For the past few weeks, I've been hungrier than previously and so I've been eating an additional 300-400 calories each day because I just couldn't hold back. I've also recently got some strong carb cravings. Is this…

Explanation for my almost 1lb loss per day?
Not that I'm complaining. I'm just curious and am trying to learn more about how weight loss/gain really works and stuff so if someone could "educate" me that would be great haha :) Anyways I am 5'7 and was 135 pounds. I exercise 5 days a week. A week ago I decided to make a change and increased my water consumption to 1…

Will eating healthy help me in the long run despite not losing weight?
Basically I'm not gaining but not losing either. My intention is to lose. I'm lightly active (10k steps and 5 days of workouts) and consume 1400-1600 calories depending on the day. 90 percent of my diet consists of fruits, veggies, seafood, eggs, quinoa, rice, almond milk, nuts and so on. And I drink 10 glasses of water a…

Did I not go over my carbs? Does fiber not count?
According to my nutrition profile after dinner I went over my carbs by 33 grams but I've now consumed a total of 59 grams of fiber. Do those carbs from fiber not count? Does this mean I can eat 26 more carbs? How about the calories? Because carbs have calories but if certain ones don't count does that mean those calories…

Eating less vs exercising more?
Over a 1+ year period I lost a good amount of fat because I used to be overweight. I made sure to eat at a 300-500 deficit from my TDEE (according to myfitnesspal). This was before any added exercise. I did exercise but not much, and I still do. The problem is I'm only 7 pounds away from my goal weight and I feel like I…

Is it normal to "shrink" when doing resistance training?
Hello everyone. My name is Summer and I still have a lot to learn about fitness. Maybe I just got lucky with my experience but I'm very curious about this because I'm considering keeping it up. Long story short I recently noticed something. A little bit over year ago shortly before I began lifting weights, squats,…
