Fitbit and activity
Hi everyone, For years I have used a fitbit zip to monitor my daily steps. A few months ago I switched to an Inspire model worn on the wrist. Nothing has changed with my routine or activity but my new fitbit shows only 2000-3000 steps daily despite my daily activities and a 30 min walk. My other device used to show…

Steps & calories
Hi everyone, I’m hoping some of you experienced people can clear something up for me. When it comes to calories burned, do steps taken or does distance covered matter more? From what I have read, 2000 steps is on average about 1 mile of distance. So therefore, 10,000 steps is about 5 miles distance. 10,000 steps should…

Canned beans question
I have noticed that the amount of servings per container in a standard size can of beans is typically listed as “about 3.5” and 130g per serving. I’m assuming this is including the liquid. Every time I weigh out the drained beans in grams I get just about 2 servings or around 260g, not 3.5 servings, not even close. I don’t…

Fitbit zip and exercise
Hi. I recently synched my fitbit to MFP. I asked this question in the general community boards and they referred me here. I'm under the impression that I'm supposed to log my exercise calories and eat some of them back. Yesterday, I logged 1/2 my exercise. I then noticed that fitbit gave me some extra calories too. Do I…

Activity level question
Hi. I am 35 years old. I weigh 133 lbs. According to multiple calculators, my BMR is 1260-1280. I use a fitbit zip to monitor my activity level. It seems that my calorie burn is a bit low for the amount of activity I do. Please tell me what you think and if my readings seem accurate or off. On a couple days when I forgot…

Fitbit and exercise
I recently synched my fitbit to MFP. I logged my exercise today (only half) in MFP and noticed fitbit also gave me extra calories based on how many steps I got in the day. Should I still log my exercise separately and eat these calories back? When I logged only half my exercise calories, it is about the same amount of…

Who has lost a lot of weight without using a food scale?
First off, I am a big fan of the food scale. I have always measured my food using measuring cups but learned how much more accurate a food scale is. The reason I ask the original question is my mom. She thinks a food scale is too cumbersome and claims that people have been losing weight for a long time without using a food…

TDEE question
How do we really determine our activity level? If one is doing light workouts 3 times a week but is otherwise sedentary, would activity level be lightly active or sedentary? What about doing 4 intense workouts per week but otherwise being sedentary? If the number of workouts is already being accounted for in our activity…

Death from diet pills.
I remember years ago, a young woman came in to the ER and died. She had no known medical problems. The only thing new? She was on diet pills to lose the baby weight. Diet pills are bad for the heart. I will never mess with them.
