How often do i increase my calories while gaining weight.

I gained 6 pounds and i noticed it only went to my stomach i look kind of funny, it looks like i have tooth pick legs and a pot belly. Can it be another reason besides genetics ?
If i eat 3,500 calories in one day will i gain one pound? I am on a journey trying to gain 5 pounds , i was wondering if i can gain 5 pounds in 5 days eating 3,500 calories per day
