Confused about microwave popcorn nutrition info...
OK, so while I was at Target, I picked up some "Market Pantry Whole Grain Microwave Popcorn with butter", and now that I look at it, the nutrition facts are making me scratch my head. There's one entry here that looks similar, but the one in the database says "with 94% fat-free butter", which is something that my box of…

RunKeeper changes...
From "The Unofficial Apple Weblog": http://www.tuaw.com/2011/04/30/runkeeper-pro-goes-free-runkeeper-free-goes-bye-bye/ A member of the TUAW team recently received an email from RunKeeper saying that RunKeeper Free will no longer be supported. At first glance that might seem like fairly bad news, but it now appears that…

(microwave) Linguini / white clam sauce recipe?
OK... so, I went to Maggiano's this week, and when I logged my meal, I almost fell over! I only ate a little bit of my linguini with white clams sauce entree, but if I'd have eaten the whole thing, it'd have been 3320 calories and 3810 mg of sodium! Now, I used to make Rachael Ray's version, that I found at…

C25K (Week 5) Advise, please?
It's a beautiful day out there, and since it's a workout day for me, I thought I'd do today's C25K workout outside, instead of my usual treadmill run. This is week 5 day 1, though -- today, I step up to 3 jogs at 5 minutes each. Here's my question for any of you who have gotten to week 5: it seems that running on streets…

What does "alcohol is empty calories" mean?
Just curious... as I've been reading, I've seen it mentioned (many times) that alcohol is nothing but "empty calories". I'm kinda confused what that means. Clearly, if I have a beer or a drink, those calories "count" for my daily intake, so that's not an issue. What, then, does "empty calories" mean? Is it just that…

Refresco de Avena?
Does anyone here watch Alton Brown's "Good Eats" on Food Network? Last year (maybe in the fall?), on an episode about oats, he made a drink I'd never seen before: refresco de avena. I bought the ingredients, made some, and loved it! I want to make it again, but I don't know if I should, since I don't know how to count the…

C25K Newb questions...
Guys, I've been considering starting a C25K program, to add to my exercise. In high school I ran cross country and track, and ran 10K's in my 20's, but hadn't done any real exercise over the past 10 years or so. Five weeks ago, as I started counting calories and "doing" MFP seriously, I also started using the EA Sports…

Going for Vietnamese tonight... suggestions?
So, I'll be going to a Vietnamese restaurant tonight with some friends. I love Vietnamese cuisine! But... I'm guessing that what I would normally get would just be too much for my current diet. Any suggestions on good lower-calorie food that I should order tonight? Thanks!

Olive Garden -- just shoot me now...
Oh, man... I went to Olive Garden tonight, and I thought I was doing ok -- I got their "capellini di mare" (which was one of their "low fat" entrees), and had a full plate of salad, and 1 1/2 bread sticks. The damage? 1075 calories, 155 g carbs, 3214 mg sodium. Aggghhh!

Confused about calories burned while walking...
Maybe I'm confusing info I'd heard years ago, but it seemed to me that the calories burned while walking depended not only one's pace, but also, on the amount of time *during one session*. In other words, if I walked for 5 minutes at five different times during the day, that would be a different number of calories burned…
