Bellydancing DVDs
One of my resolutions is to get at least 15 minutes of activity in every day, in addition to 3-4 longer workouts every week. I'm home from college right now and I've really been enjoying a bellydancing program on Fit TV, but when I go back to school, I won't get that channel any more. The $50 for 13 episodes of that…

Favorite Veggie Recipes
What are your favorite vegetable recipes that you and your family enjoy? Right now, mine is halved, roasted acorn squash, stuffed with a mixture of sauteed vegetables and lean ground beef or tempeh, seasoned with cumin, chili, and garlic. Or for a simple dinner I like to halve the amount of potatoes I'd use in the mash and…

Sick of the Bookstore Run-around
I know that I don't know enough about the basics of nutrition, and I've set out to educate myself and I keep coming up frustrated. The library, the bookstore, wherever I go looking for info, I keep running into a million kinds of diets, every and magic trick you can imagine. Eat this, don't eat that, breathe only through…

6 week 200 crunches challenge
I love MFP, it always turns up the coolest links, like this: http://www.twohundredsitups.com I want to increase my core strength, so I'm doing the 200 crunches program. Anyone want to join in? Check ins on Saturday. I just did my test and I'm kind of embarassed. When I was still doing Tang Soo Do, I could bang out 75-80…

Unlisted Family Recipes
I've been making Christmas cookies with my mom all day and I found that a lot of the cookies we make aren't in any database I can find. Some of them, it's because I only know them by the name my family uses for them, which is usually a poor translation of what my Italian great-grandmother called them, and others, because…

Motivation Outside Your Goals
It's great to have that ultimate goal. I honestly have not weighed my goal weight since middle school, and I can't wait to see what happens when I get there. It's also really good to have those mini goals, benchmarks along the way. But you know what I love? Motivation that just pops up and presents itself without a number.…

Ladies: Cramp Foods?
The title basically says it all. My uterus is congratulating me on not being pregnant, and it's congratulating me HARD. What offerings can I use to appease its wrath?

Staircase - OW!
I am living in the dorms at college and it's about a quarter-mile walk to the gym on campus, which is a great warmup most days but today was yucky rain-sleety and I didn't feel like it, so I had the great idea to use the stairs in my building, which has 13 stories. Great idea, right? OH. MY. GOODNESS. I live on the 11th…

Love that feeling
I always fail at this stuff because I make excuses for with I DON'T want to work out instead of remembering all the reasons that I DO want to work out. Why do you like working out? I love that feeling when you've done a good ab workout and your tummy feels tight and happy.

Anyone using Women's Health Fit Coach?
That 30 day trial sounds mighty tempting. I'm just wondering if it's good enough that I might want to put money into it after.

Calories burned by unlisted exercise
For obvious reasons, quidditch is not listed in the MFP database, except for the clearly miscalculated entry I made. The way we play it according to the IQA rules is like a cross between soccer, dodgeball and tag, so how do I figure out how much it burns?

Calorie Balance
I know that you can adjust your carb-fat-protein ratio but I don't know much about how adjusting it will impact my progress. Help?

Couch to... Quidditch?
Yep, quidditch. I'm a charter member of my school's newly-formed team. We want to go the World Cup at Middlebury College next fall. (Don't believe me, check out collegequidditch.com) The problem is we're all a bit out of shape for a game that, for all intents and purposes, plays out a bit like rugby with brooms. We've…

After three weeks of actually eating right...
I'm down 3.5 lbs! I feel like I'm finally understanding healthy food habits for me, and this week I'm starting to incorporate regular workouts. I'm really excited!

Help! Improbable (but possible) internship assignment
I’m the social media intern at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island, and apparently I’ve been doing a good job because my boss has asked me to get an upcoming event on Letterman. In doing research, I’ve found that to pitch to Letterman, you basically need to know someone - they do not accept “unsolicited” pitches.…

Illness and Weightloss
How do you keep motivated when you are sick? I've been laid out since Friday (Upper respiratory infection) and I have no motivation to curtail my eating habits or to get any kind of excersize. What's a girl to do?

How big is the calorie margin?
How big a margin of discretion is there on MFP's daily calorie budget? In both directions. I'm new, I'm still trying to figure this out.
