Check your food BEFORE you go out!
I went to dinner at Olive Garden this afternoon. I asked the waitress if she could suggest anything 'light' on the menu. She suggested the Shrimp Caprese. Looked innocent enough. angel hair pasta, grilled shrimp, tomatoes and a "light butter sauce" Just looked it up ....1533 calories! add that to the bowl of soup and…

HELP! Plateau frustration.
I am so very frustrated. My weight has not budged in 3 weeks. I read, re-read, and then read Banks plateau thread on my head. I upped my calories. I lowered my calories. I ate 1800 without exercise in a day. I upped my exercise (which I now crave and will not change for anything) to 5-6 days a week 40-60 minutes a day…

Cholesterol down 60 pts thru diet and exercise
First...If you have not had your cholesterol checked recently-do so. It is very important we know what is IN our bodies. Mine went up due to early onset menopause, and most women do not know that the lowered estrogen in our bodies increases our cholesteral levels. The main reason I started on this journey was for my…

Working out in the heat of summer.
I was curious if I would burn more calories working out different times fo the day, say 2pm vs 7pm. My friend is a trainer who suggested I move my elliptical machine to my Florida room, as it doesnt have AC and I would burn more calories. This sounded silly and he didnt have a logical explanation, so as usual I had to see…

Burn baby Burn
I have been thinking about the difference of the before me and the me of today. I have a neck injury so by the end of the day I am in a good deal of pain from work. I drive and work on a computer, both of which cause neck/upper body pain. I would end work, come home at 4-7 pm and lie down. In bed. During daylight. Then the…

Shopping listed as an exercise?
Hmm. Was thinking as I was lugging my 64 oz laundry detergent and my 40 rolls of toilet paper..... Should I log these calories burned? How about when I try on 10 pairs of pants to finally find one pair that fits? Then, do I add additional calories for the victory dance I did when they were a size smaller than I thought…

lemon in water-does it help burn fat?
My health nut  friend squeezes a full lemon into each 16 oz glass of water. She said it helps to burn fat and rev up your metabolism. Anyone have pros or cons of this comment. Sounds good to me, but then lemons add calories also. I heard grapefruit/juice does the same thing. Really want opinions on this one.…

Fast walk/jog vs elliptical
I am having a big issue with calories burned on elliptical vs walk/jog. I was burning 335 cals for 30 min on elip, but only 135 for walk./jog   ( per MFP ) Doesnt make sense. My heart rate was HIGHER walk/jogging and I certainly felt like i was working harder.:grumble: Anyone have comments? :noway:

Ground beef vs ground turkey
I am a bit confused as to why I would use ground turkey instead of ground beef. I checked the labels and both have the same amount of fat. Same thing with the italian sausage. Does anyone know the reason ground turkey is better for you than ground beef? Any help would be appreciated!
