blood sugar question
I realize this isn't a medical board but I'm wondering if anyone can offer me some insight and I know enough to take everything with a grain of salt and often a dose of reality to chase it. I posted in this section since this is where such things as specific diet/illness etc. support groups post and figured it was out of…

Exercise type question
I spent 2 hours (unexpectedly) sorting food collected by the National Letter Carriers Association Food drive this afternoon but didn't have my HRM as I was only expecting to pick up my daughter. Any idea how I can log that? It was more standing, sorting, bending and squatting than walking. Due to my activity being set to…

Ricotta Spinach Turkey Burger
A modification of a knockoff of a Cheddar Spinach Chicken burger sold at Costco. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/dBuh5DKPEEr-nTrSh6PKCEZltojX6gpxqXXNhJxZVq4?feat=directlink They're really easy to make. I just drained the spinach and squeezed out all the excess water I could. Add everything to a medium to large mixing…

speed and pace
I found an interesting article why trying to figure out how fast an 18 minute mile was. http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/sundquist.html Here is some helpful information I gleaned from it: WALKING PACE CHART LEVEL 1: VERY INACTIVE: 80-100 steps per minute = 2 mph (30 minute mile) LEVEL 2: LIGHTLY ACTIVE: 120 steps per…

Drinking Tea Helps Weight Loss, Study Shows
I found this interesting but never gave it serious thought. I just like tea with or without milk. Anyone else into this theory? http://www.aolnews.com/2011/03/28/drinking-tea-helps-weight-loss-study-shows/?icid=mydaily|Good High points: Tea contains high levels of compounds that combat the absorption of fat, Japanese…

Birthdays, Death and Dieting
From January to February 25th I was doing great. Logging food, feeling overall better (sugar monitoring wise) and not feeling deprived. February 26th, my oldest son's 19th birthday - I did well, ordered healthy(ish) Tilapia recipe at German Restaurant and had an apple cobbler type thing for Dessert and a goat cheese and…

Acutal Need vs System Calculated
I bought a Polar FT4 yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. As an experiment I wanted to see what I actually burned during my normal day so I wore this for the better part of 24 hours from midnight (Sunday) to midnight (Monday) roughly as there was actually about an 8 minute gap from where I took it off and when I had a minor…

Eating out & logging foods
I went to a German Restaurant tonight (Friday) for my son's birthday. The restaurant doesn't provide nutritional information on site nor online. I added what I felt was a reasonable substitution for the dessert I had, but other than that I can't figure out how to log what I ate. I did have tilapia in a sesame sauce -…

Interesting
When I first started on January 1st at 199.4 lbs my daily caloric goal was 1530. Now that I've lost 11lbs, MFP says my daily caloric goal should be 1550 and this is with NO exercise - oh and I'll lose another 5lbs by March 27th. If I weigh less, I require less calories just to exist, right? So what's the logic with raising…

Protein Goals
Are these goals unrealistic? I would prefer to have a higher protein intake than carbs but find that I'm having a hard time meeting my protein goal without going over my carb allotment for the day. If I stay under the carbs, my protein usually misses by half or more. Now, with the fat, most of what I eat is healthy…
