MFP Bad Math?
My macros right now are sitting at: Carbs: 147 Fat: 71 Protein:143 So that should be 147 * 4 + 71 * 9 + 143 * 4 => 1811 calories. But MFP says 2,400 calories! Am I having a total brain fart here, or is something wrong...?

Tracking Lean Mass Retention
Like many others here, I want to ensure that I retain as much lean mass as possible as I lose my final XX pounds of fat. I do heavy compound lifting 2-3x a week to that end, and consume around 1g of protein per pound of LBM. I log everything daily, including weight and BF%, and smooth things out with 5 and 7 day averages.…

CICO: It's Science, but it works like Magic
I know at times folks despair that Calories In, Calories Out isn't right. Here's my past-month experience... So I've been logging very consistently now for about six weeks. Figured that was enough time to suck all the calories consumed and weighing data into Excel (actually Google Docs, but whatever) and see how well…

CICO: It's Science, but it works like Magic
So I've been logging very consistently now for about six weeks. Figured that was enough time to suck all the calories consumed and weighing data into Excel (actually Google Docs, but whatever) and see how well things were tracking. I had Excel calculate running averages of the daily weigh-ins to smooth out the usual…

Agent Seeley Booth
AKA David Boreanaz. As far as I can determine, his vital stats check in at 6'2" (but that's Hollywood height, so probably 6'1" barefoot), 218 pounds, ~15% BF based on pictures. Ok, so let's say you're a guy of similar body structure, but about 35 pounds heavier. And your goal is to achieve a figure similar to that of…

Holy Crap cereal
No, really, that's the name. http://store.holycrap.ca/products/holy-crap-cereal Pricey as hell, but this is seriously tasty stuff! I'm about as far from a vegan as you can get - we raise on our free-range bacon, lol - but man oh man is this stuff good! Anybody else partake? Anybody have suggestions for other cereals like…

Running at pace and endurance questions
I've been logging all my "Learn to 10k" runs in Strava. And noticing that there is a pace at which I can complete the daily routing without puking my guts out - but if I go even 10% over that pace, I burn out and crash, hard, and it is a real struggle by the middle of the second interval (of 5-7 intervals). I assume I'm…

Triathlon Training
Sprint distance. Competitive on the cycling portion means doing ~300W for 33 minutes. Question: how best to get there? 1. Train the 20km distance, gradually decreasing time (hence increasing power) 2. Train the time, with 300W intervals that lengthen until the whole time (and hence distance) is at 300W 3. Something else…

Going above BMR is scary!
For a long time, because I had a considerable amount of weight to lose, I followed a high caloric deficit approach, coupled with relatively low carbs. I was generally about 600 calories below BMR. That worked for the first 45 pounds, but as I tried to ramp up physical activity, things just weren't working well. Low energy.…

Ammonia Sweat is Back
Having lost a bunch of weight, over the past few weeks I have started ramping up my physical activity. I'm now doing about 700 calories a day of dedicated exercise. It's not all hard core cardio, much of it is extended "brisk" walking. Yesterday, for example, was a 7km walking pace hike, 25 minutes of swimming laps in a…
