Holy Crap cereal

No, really, that's the name.

Pricey as hell, but this is seriously tasty stuff! I'm about as far from a vegan as you can get - we raise on our free-range bacon, lol - but man oh man is this stuff good!

Anybody else partake? Anybody have suggestions for other cereals like this?

    Hi,

I was expecting to see a sugary gimmicky vegan breakfast cereal but was very pleasantly surprised.
Thank you for sharing. I haven't seen it in Australia and I would be interested if they have stockists here. Unfortunately, the transportation/postal charges from Canada would probably make it far too expensive for me to have on a regular basis. It does look absolutely fantastic, though.
    kind regards,

    Ben

Love it so much I added it to the MFP database;) I have it 2-3 times a day. You can make your own with chia seeds, hemp hearts, cinnamon and raisins:)

I love it. It's expensive so only eat it rarely. I eat it with milk.

One of my MFP friends in Canada told me about it the other day. She said that they ship to the U.S. free. She also said that it's fantastic! I'm going to give it a try. It sounds a little weird to me because you have to soak it in water before you eat it. But I'm willing to give it a try!

I was told it's available in New Zealand, so it's probably worth shooting them an email about it.

I don't soak mine, I just add it to yoghurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese, smoothies, etc...

I can see this as a quick energy snack (like trail mix) -- but as *breakfast* with a serving size of only two tablespoons??? :frown:

I make my own...good ole Costco has chia, hemp hearts....I omit the buckwheat cause I don't like them.

I add it to other things (used to add it to yoghurt...thickens up yoghurt ) I add it to oatmeal and some times just let it sit with the juice from canned fruit and then eat it with the canned fruit.

I remember seeing them on Dragon's Den - after that exposure their brand really took off. I haven't tried it, but it seems like it would be a good additive to yogurt to make it more hearty and satisfying.

My friend said that it swells up when soaked to about 3 times it original size. Still, 6T. isn't much to eat.

I had a free sample a few years ago at the Granville Island market in Vancouver and just had to buy it. There's a bag in my cupboard right now. Love that it's ultra-low sodium, which can't be said for most cereals (check the sodium content of Cheerios for an eye-opener!).

I add it to yogurt, oatmeal or cream of wheat.
  • I eat a similar cereal called Qi'a. It's by Nature's Path. It comes in a few different flavors. I like the Cranberry Vanilla and Apple Cinnamon. You can purchase it at most health food stores in the U.S for a fraction of the cost of the cereal you mentioned. I add it to my oatmeal and it keeps me full for hours.

    Here are the ingredients:

Apple Cinnamon: Chia seeds, buckwheat groats, hemp seeds, raisins, freeze-dried apples & cinnamon. Serving size 2 tbsp. 130 calories. 6 g protein 4 g fiber 2.2 g ALA Omega-3s

Cranberry Vanilla: Chia seeds, buckwheat groats, hemp seeds, cranberries, almonds, natural vanilla flavor. Serving size 2 tbsp. 140 calories. 6 g protein 4 g fiber 1.9g ALA Omega-3s

130 calories and only 5gr of protein in only 2 TBS of cereal?

Even if it does triple in size... no thanks.
Even if you just sprinkle it on yogurt etc, doesn't seem worth the calories for me.
