Is it true that if you put more weight on a machine it will build muscle rather than putting less weight on a machine to lose weight? I want to lose weight.. so am I supposed to use less weight? or more weight? PLEASE HELP MY CONFUSION :/

I don't understand how so many inshape girls can say that the gym is their worst enemy or that they hate it. Right now I call the gym my best friend. Well, I did only start on 4/11/2011, butttt I have already lost 4 pounds and want to keep shedding. Am I wrong for liking the gym? So who else thinks the gym is their worst…
