Looking for some more MFPals
Hello, I'd love to have some more folks I can help encourage and be encouraged by during our health journeys. I've been on MFP for about a month and a half, though I started losing weight a few weeks before that. I've dropped about 50 of the 100 pounds I'd like to lose. I'm at about 295 pounds now. 6'3. 34 years old. A…

Optimal heart rate for weight loss?
So, I just got an HRM and have been playing around with it a bit. What's the optimal heart rate for me to be at during steady state cardio to burn the most fat and get into the best shape? My first goal is to lose another 50 pounds or so, but my secondary goal is to be able to run a 10k and/or do a triathlon without…

Healthy pizza that tastes like pizza?
I know this might be nearly impossible... I keep finding recipes for healthy pizza, but they bear no resemblance to what I like in a pizza. I don't need it to be greasy or anything, just be made of bread, with some cheese, with a red sauce, and some meat on it. Anyone have a somewhat healthy recipe?

NSV: An accidental 5k
I have been working out for about 5 weeks. My "trainer" (a friend from another State who gives me exercise and diet tips over the phone and via email a couple times a week) asked me not to jump into running too quickly. To work up to it very slowly, to ensure I don't injure my ligaments/tendons, as they take a lot longer…

Stretching before and after?
My whole life I have never done much stretching before exercise. I'm not really sure what to do, and I've never seen the need. Of course, ive done a lot of stupid things my whole life, so I try not to let that keep me doing them! I work out first thing in the morning. Basically, I roll out of bed, hit the bathroom, maybe…

Can you help me track this?
I went to an Asian place for lunch today, and I have no idea how to track this in my food journal. I ate a light snack this morning so that I would have some extra room in case this meal went over, and I think it might have. But honestly, I just don't know. I don't eat much Asian food, so don't know what this stuff might…

Menu assistance
Hello, I am going to be going to this restaurant for a work meeting, and I really don't know what on here is decent for me. Can anyone help provide feedback on dishes on here that might be lower in sodium and nutritious? http://www.streetkitchenasianbistro.com/menu.html I am new to this "eating healthy" thing, and usually…

Too little fat?
Can you get too little fat in your diet? I am consistently coming in a bit under my daily target for fat, and usually come in over for protein. I manually set my goals to 40% carb, 30% fat, 30% protein. Thoughts?

Body fat calculator?
Do hand-held body fat calculators work? Something like this? Anyone tried them? Thinking of getting this so I have a better idea of where I am versus the worthless BMI number. http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HBF-306C-Loss-Monitor-Black/dp/B000FYZMYK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305490420&sr=8-1

How much red meat?
how much red meat do my non-Adkins friends eat? In the last month I have eaten very little, eating mostly chicken with some beans and if thrown in. I'd like to add beef or pork back in, but want to do so in a wise amount and fashion.

Success is discouraging?
Anyone else ever actually get discouraged by weight loss success? Let me explain... I've lost just over 30 pounds now. My lifestyle change has been very successful by any realistic measure. But I look at myself in the mirror and all I can see is how I have so much farther to go. My total loss will be about 90 pounds, so…

Adding protein without adding other stuff
I want to increase my daily protein intake, but I don't want to increase my fat, or sodium to do it. All of my favorite protein sources are loaded with one (nuts) or the other (lunch meats). The key is that is needs to be something I can eat at work, or all at once when I get home. I want to add somewhere in the range of…

Eating the right amount of calories, the right way
I started working out and eating better about 3 weeks ago. My stats... I am 6'3. I started at 345 pounds. About 3 weeks later I am at 320. I have been working out twice a day (~20 minutes strength in the morning, 40 minutes steady state cardio at night). I had been eating about 1800 calories. I came across this site, (and…
