I was wondering what is more accurate when it comes to calories lost. Gym cardio equipment or MFP? For example 30 mins on the elliptical said I burned 200 calories but MFP said I burned 500+. What should I log for my cardio diary?

Measuring help.
So I started measuring my food but I have a few questions. Should I be creating my own food within the app? If so how do I calculate the calories? Should I go by the calories that other's have used even though it may be a different brand? Use an apple for example.

I have been walking for 3 weeks now and I am overweight and not really losing weight. My weight fluctuates.
