Share your Goals!
I've been holding steady at 45lbs down all throughout baseball season (no easy task considering I made it to 50-60 games this season, and we all know how healthy ballpark food/bev options are!) so I'm back on warpath to get ready for next season! I figure, by the time my ladies and I head down to Phoenix for spring…

I had an affair...
...a black-tie gala kind of affair, that is! My friend had me come over to try some of her dresses on, and I wasn't sure any of them would even fit, since formal wear runs small, and all she had were 16-17-18s. After trying on her beautiful dresses, and being thrilled they actually fit me AND ZIPPED, she remembered one…

HELP! I need a ball gown!
I just won some tickets to a black-tie gala in San Francisco on May 11! That's awesome, but all of my formal wear is too big, and I'm in need of a ball gown! I'm not sure how formal sizing is in relation to regular sizing, but I think I'm going to need an 18 or 20. If you're in the San Francisco Bay Area I can definitely…

NSVs galore...
So, despite slacking off a bit for the last few weeks and maintaining instead of losing, I've been running into lots of NSVs... I went to visit my mom and extended family, none of them have seen me since I started losing. 3 days of people telling me how amazing I look and how proud of me they are? WIN. I just bought a pair…

This is what 40 lbs looks like. (lots of pics)
I thought a different kind of ‘success story’ might be nice, so here are a few every-day representations of how much weight I’ve shed to date – 40lbs, with some help frm Google and their image search. 5 gallons of Almond Butter: This beautiful chair: Large bag of water-softening salt This super awesome Celestron Telescope…

Eating Top Ramen and Gatorade
Not sure if anyone else saw this on the Huffington Post today, but it's an eye-opening look inside your body, when you eat Ramen vs homemade noodles and drink gatorade instead of unprocessed beverages. "Top Ramen is made to survive armageddon, while homemade noodles are made to be eaten."…

What a difference 6 months makes! Pics!
No fad diets. No drugs. (well, other than an insulin regulator!) Just eating right and working out. If I can do this, YOU can do this. Thank you, MFP community for helping keep me focused and driven...

When does YOUR cardio stop?
For those of you with HRMs, you know that your heart rate stays elevated for quite some time after the machine shuts off or your running shoes come off- so my question for everyone tonight is this: When do you STOP your workout? As soon as you step off the machine? When your heart rate returns to normal? A set time,…

Plantar Fibroma - Recommendations on Stability / support sho
Hi everyone! A couple of years ago I did some damage to the arch of my foot from unknowingly doing too much elliptical and stairmaster in weak/unsupportive shoes and tore the muscle tissue on the arch of my left foot. It formed a pea-sized knot which has slowly depleted over time. The podiatrist I saw about this told me I…

Airplane seatbelts? Bring em on!
A little NSV I discovered when I flew a bunch in December- no need to ask for a seatbelt extender, no uncomfortably tight belt, and even a little bit of belt hangin' out the back when I snapped the buckle! Anyone else celebrate this, or am I weird?

A subtle NSV...
Today I busted out my rain boots and when I put them on they went straight up around my calves. No scrunching and bunching at the ankles! Look for the little things, friends! You never know where you'll find a little extra encouragement and motivation.

Startled by my own reflection...
Yesterday I was meeting someone for lunch and took my jacket off to throw on a chair and save our seats, and as I removed it I looked up and noticed a wall of mirrors and was genuinely startled by how thin I'm looking these days. Later last night I changed into my swimsuit for water aerobics, and was pleasantly surprised…

Upping calories to break a plateau... PASS.
When I started MFP it set my goal at 1370. When i lost about 15lbs, It went to 1320. When I got to 34lbs (where I'm still at, a couple months later) it advised I revisit my goals, and set me to 1250. That was around late October or early November, and while I was glad to have maintained my weight over the holidays (except…

Just a brief Update- approx 35lbs from HKW
Highest known weight - 274 Current Weight - 240 and declining! Okay, aside of the fact that i apparently only take full body photos in costume (The top left was for my 80s day Tailgate Birthday party in July, the two Octobers are from Halloween) this is a small sampling of progress pics over the last year. For me, being…

Reducing impact of in-home cardio?
This sounds absurd to me, so laugh if you will, but I feel it's worth asking... I have a Jillian Michaels DVD that I really like, I've done it the last 2 nights (every night since I bought it!) but I skipped it tonight because of soreness. Not muscle soreness- that I can power through. This is achy joint soreness resulting…

Help rehabbing a shoulder injury...
I'm probably going to be seeing a doctor for this, but in the mean time I thought I'd ask around here. A year ago I injured my shoulder hanging on to an overhead bar in an airport shuttle van as the driver maniacally slammed the brakes and hit the gas between the hotel and airport. Since I'm only 5'4" and the bar was…

Taking my fitness Global!
Feel free to add me as a friend- I'm looking for people of all walks of life in all parts of the world. I'd like my newsfeed to be a tiny little UN of fitness and encouragement! Chances are someone's been through the problems that are holding you up, or someone has figured out something I can't seem to manage, so if we all…

I can't be the only one...
First, I will start with the fact that I am thrilled that I've lost about 30lbs from my highest weight. I know not everyone has this success, and I am in no way taking it for granted. But I'm frustrated. I'm both ecstatic and infuriated that none of my clothes fit. I live on a very tight budget, so I can't really afford to…

Low-Glycemic Index foods, Insulin resistance, PCOS
So allow me to explain the subject- I'm looking for suggestions on low-glycemic index foods or meal plans. I have found charts of the indices but I really don't know what it all means at this point. I'm great at following suggested plans and outlines, so I fugure that'll do. The insulin resistance and PCOS (Poly Cystic…
