These calorie burns seem way overstated. I’ve read that walking burns about 60 calories an hour. Even hiking up and down hills with a pack is estimated to burn 150. No idea about cycling.4 -

With your low back issues be careful with Strong Lifts 5x5. It’s an excellent program, but it advocates increasing weights by 5 lbs at every session. I learned by experience that my body can’t handle…3 -

I don’t have any input re your diet, but I would encourage you to incorporate some type of exercise, not for weight loss, but for overall health. Anything you enjoy.1
