Good morning all!
Well, I came on here to rant about my recent bad choices (snacking). But today's threadstarter reminded me to give myself some credit every once in awhile. I may not have done everything "right" along the way, but I did get started. (I remember when I'd resolved to "become a runner", bought the clothes & shoes, but was petrified to take those first steps. This went on for *months*! As they say, getting started really is the hardest part.) Kudos to all of us for taking those first steps in the journey!!!
As to those evening snacks. I don't go over by muuuuuch, but without any cardio calorie-burning, and current calories set at maintenance, every little bit adds up. The main thing is that I don't like how I feel when I cave in to DH's late snacks.
I'm thinking that after this cold clears up, I might do some 30 Day Shred, to give me a boost. I was so focused when I did 30DS.
Not expecting much today. I still feel like death warmed over with this cold and am running on very little sleep t'boot.
Hope everyone else has a great day! Friday's on the approach!0 -
Oh yeah, I just now went ahead and started a diet-related thread. I remember it was suggested to make something like that a little while back, when it seemed we were all struggling a bit with eating, so...better late than never. It's in the pinned section.
Certainly "dieting" carries special challenges for people who workout regularly (fuelling your workouts vs. cutting), so this is a group familiar with that aspect of it and can relate. If you're doing good with diet right now, please take a moment to share your secrets and tips. If you're struggling, post up your greatest challenges and maybe you'll get some good feedback.0 -
Sorry to flood today's thread, but one more order of business.
Since the forum changes, the group image changed aspects. The thumbnail is okay, but the other image changed to a banner shape/size. I quickly found something in a banner aspect, but not sure I like it. Maybe y'all can suggest something better? Obviously it's nice to have something either really super motivational or something that stresses the habit aspect of committing to "daily" exercise (obviously "daily" is more of mindset than a reality, since rest days are equally important. blahblahblah, y'all know what I mean! lol) ANYHOOOO, I have no idea what the parameters are, but it should be of a banner shape (think Facebook timeline photo shape), because the bottom gets cut-off otherwise.
If y'all are okay with what's there, then okay, we can roll with it for awhile and freshen it up from time-to-time. Any and all input very much appreciated! Thanks!0 -
I didn't even notice the new group image so I'll have to look. I do like the idea of switching it up periodically - maybe every month? Or quarterly?
It seems like it takes several extra steps to get to the daily check-in page. Instead of just clicking onto Community and being able to scroll down and see the latest thread that was added to it's Community then Groups then into the Group and finally down to the threads. Anybody else find a shortcut?
I traveled for work yesterday, and it was my rest day. My co-worker made lunch for all of us, which was nice. I didn't track calories and I was likely over but I don't think I was a lot over. Even though I didn't track I didn't let myself snack in the evening since that's what I'm really working on stopping. We're having lunch brought in today for a meeting from a place that specializes in giant burritos, but I found a salad with grilled chicken & a vinaigrette dressing on the menu so I ordered that.
Trainer session after work tonight, then I will need to run either on the treadmill or outdoors. It will be dark but the headlamp I ordered came. I haven't tested it out yet. The bike trainer I bought for my birthday came yesterday so I also currently have my bike in the middle of my living room. Giving away a couple smaller pieces of furniture over the weekend then will need to rearrange a bit.0 -
Hi, I have noticed you have to go to community, then hit groups, then our group. It's not as quick.
I was thinking of the banner. Even though I don't run a pic of someone runing a race reminds me we are all on a journey to health.
I woke up after 4 hrs sleep, lots on my mind. Going to do river walk instead of nia today. Need the fresh air.
I will check out eating thread I am still having hard time with emotional eating.0 -
Marla - I'm glad that their ideas are working to help you get along better with your boss! That can make a job so much easier.
Laura - I'm glad yesterday went well for you. Days like that are so hard to make good choices on, but it sounds like you did great! oh, and I love your headshot!
Sherry - I have just discovered Pinterest so I may do a little surfing on there and see what I find for a banner.
This week has gone really well for me. I've actually been training again. I got my strength training in, several runs, a swim and a bike in. Today I have a short run this morning, and a short swim later. I would normally get my swim in the morning after dropping kids off at school, but I have my follow up appointment about my ablation. I'm still having issues. Even after the ablation I go through at least 4 of the largest pads and tampons you can buy every day. It makes me tired and makes exercising consistently hard. I'm planning to be pretty strong about the need to just have a hysterectomy. It's been almost 3 years of constantly having my life disrupted for several weeks at a time every month. It needs to stop! We'll see what my OB says. my hubby is graciously coming in for moral support as I'm not usually very good at being honest about health stuff. I feel like I'm complaining. (illogical I know, but it still is how I end up feeling).
Hubby had a huge project due for his class, and he was so behind I spent most of the day helping him. My brain is fried, but at least he got it in! I'll be so glad when he finished school so I'm not having to bear the brunt of all the chores and keeping the house running alone.
Have a great day everyone!
Goals:
Still get a swim in even if it is in the afternoon.
Stay under my calories. So far I've stayed under my calories every day this week! I want to keep my momentum!
Have fun with an actual night off with my family. No plans, no homework.0
