From terrible to good labs in 16 weeks

I'm 52 and have been diagnosed with Type 2 for 10 years. I knew when I went in for labs on June 6, 2014 that the results would not be good. My doctor was really discouraged for me, and told me she couldn't really up my meds, the only thing I could do was diet and exercise. So I started on June 6, and 16 weeks later took my labs again. Here are my lab results:
Lab: [goal]....June 6 number....Sept 26 number
Glucose: [65-99]....212....74
Bad Cholesterol LDL: [<100]....166....48
Good Cholesterol HDL: [>50]....40....49 (Still low, but getting better)
VLDL Cholesterol: [<30]...55...14
Triglycerides: [<150]....273....71
A1C: [4.5-6.0]....10.8....5.6
I was amazed that there could be such a drastic change over just 4 months, especially on my A1C level. This encourages me- that improvement can come so fast. Of course, this was with meds, but still my diabetes went from out of control to under control. My doctor was super happy, took me off 1 med, cut 2 others in half, and reduced another by 10%.
Oh, during this time I also lost 47 pounds.

So I went to the Doctor yesterday for my 3 month Diabetes Checkup. I continue to make progress. A1c is now at 5.9. As a reminder it was 9.9 at the beginning of the year and 6.2 3 months ago. He was happy and said to keep doing what I'm doing!0
