Welcome! Introductions

Very warm welcome to our group, let's hope that it's still active in a week or months time! :-)

I will begin with my story, I am an office worker who is not very active due to being sat down pretty much all day. After 12 hours of work it's tough to get motivated to get fit, I often find myself snacking late at night which is probably the main reason why I really need to lose a little bit of weight and be more active!

I was on MFP about 1 year ago after I purchased my treadmill and found I was using it for about a month and then it was gathering dust until about two weeks ago. Like with diets it's really hard to keep the momentum. So I figured the best way was to create a group and find some like-minded people!

A little bit about me! I am 25 years old, male, slightly overweight - well probably a lot but not "huge"... I am trying to lose weight but my main goal is to just live heathier and be physially fitter.

    Hello!
My 'story' is.... I am a stay at home mum, we have 5 daughters aged 14 down to 3 years. My wonderful husband works away 2 weeks at a time, but then he is home for 2 weeks.

I am 44 years old, and on a weight loss journey. I started changing my lifestyle in March, eating clean and exercising and have lost a total of 19.3kg to date. I would like to loose another 5-7 kilos to reach my goal.

We live up on top of a steep hill, and running up and down it has given me shin splints. After a long time in recovery (still not a 100%) the physio has given me the go ahead to run on flat grass or on a treadmill.
I joined a gym in May, and have been using the treadmill since then, plus other gym equipment too. I love it, as it is time just for ME. I also use the treadmill to watch the news and TV, as I don't get to watch any TV at home.

I generally run around 5 - 7kms, running 20 minutes, then up 20 minutes of intervals. I have been thinking of downloading an app to increase the distance to 10kms - any suggestions?

I'm in my upper 40's and sit at a desk all day long for work. I've put on about 22 pounds over the last 8 years which I've begun to shed. If my body will let me shed 5 more, I will, though wife says I'll be too thin if I lose more than 22. I'll let nature take it's course and see what happens.

I only exercise at home. I HATE gyms and will not join one - a waste of money for me - I'll never go.

Had a treadmill about 18 years ago which ultimately went to someone else during a house transition 7 years ago. About 3 years ago I purchased a Sole treadmill and though I started to use it when I got it, it was short lived.

Each night the snacks and beer put on the pounds. About 7 weeks ago I decided I had enough when I stepped on the scale. At that moment I decided I was done and had enough... Been back into my routine using the treadmill along with the existing fitness ball and mat I had. Of course, watching my intake is paramount.

Since then I've shed a little over 14 pounds.

I started the C25K routine for the treadmill and actually completed it. However, I find jogging hurts me more than I'd like. At this point, I'm moving it back to walking which - believe it or not - I burn the same amount of calories in almost the same time by using the incline a lot more.

Thanks for reading and looking forward to sharing.

Hello, I'm in my late 30s. I too have a sedentary job. I haven't been exercising much most of this year. This time last year I was spinning twice a week, training for a C25K through my job and I simply fell off the wagon once winter hit. I still walk in the mornings but ..... Now I'd like to get back to it. I'm a single mother of 3 so my plate is pretty full. I figured having a treadmill in the house is my best option. *fingers crossed*.

Hi I'm 34, a wife, teacher, and mom of a 5 year old and a 2 year old boy. I'm actually at goal weight. I started mfp a little over a year ago close to 40 pounds heavier than I am now. I gained the weight with pregnancy and it never went away. I was able to lose weight via mfp and c25k. Last winter my running routine really went to the wayside. This spring I had got myself back to being able run a 5k. I got pregnant, had a miscarriage, and all my gains went to the wayside. The miscarriage really physically set me back. I'm currently using my treadmill and have started a c210k app. My goal is to get myself so I can run a 10k

    Hey everyone,
I'm a 19 year old university student. I've always been in pretty good shape from sports, but then last year I studied abroad. I didn't have as many opportunities to be active like I was in the past and I wanted to take advantage of all the foods unavailable to me back home, so I lost a lot of muscle and gained probably an equal amount of fat. I've been really out of shape since I got back in July.
I've decided that I'm going to take up running. I've never ran before. I was on the track team in high school, but as a pole vaulter, so I was rarely, rarely forced to run more than half a mile.
I'm training for a 5K, which is two more weeks, and then after that I'll be training for a half marathon in May, hopefully doing some other races along the way. I live in an extremely cold area, so I'll be doing the majority of my training on the treadmill.
I could do to shed about 10-15 pounds but I'm more focused on the inches I lose than the number on the scale.

    Hi there!

I'm 28 years old and a stay at home mom of 2 girls (1&2). Before I got pregnant with my oldest daughter I was around 150 lbs, still overweight for my 5'2" body, but not by too much. After she was born I started losing weight pretty quick, and gave for granted that it would continue that way. Because of bad eating habits, a slight postpartum depression, and maybe one too many beers, I ended up gaining a crazy amount of weight. By the time my daughter was 6 months I was close to 210 lbs. A couple of months later I got pregnant with my second one and crazy enough, I lost weight during the pregnancy and was at 190 lbs when I delivered. That's when I decided to make a huge change in my lifestyle to avoid going back up in weight. I started by cooking healthier and doing things around the house, but in January I decided to join a gym and I've been going since then.

When I started going to the gym 10 months ago I was barely able to burn 300-350 calories on one hour in the treadmill. I would walk at a slow pace and no incline. Slowly but surely I've been building endurance, and right now I'm able to burn 850 (more or less) in the same amount of time. I'm not much of a runner, but I try to add some running to my exercises every day, and mix it with jogging, power walking and incline. So far I've lost over 40 lbs since I started and I'm about 15 lbs away from my original goal :) Then we'll see if I want to maintain there or set a new goal!

I do most of my workouts at the gym because it is the only time I can leave the girls at the child care they provide and have me time, so treadmill is my best friend right now :)
