Am I getting enough calories

I have found that eating paleo has helped significantly (most days) decrease my calorie intake. Some days I do okay and get around 1100 but other days I only get around 900. Most of my calories come from meats or foods rich in protein. I am concerned that if I do not eat enough calories it will stall my weight loss. I just recently starting losing weight again, after starting the paleo lifestyle. I originally lost 60 lbs then gained some of it back due to medications (that I am no longer taking)...so if I don't get the minimum of 1200 calories am I potentially sabotaging myself?

The best way I can answer that question is there are no calorie restrictions when you are doing Paleo. You need to get all the nutrient dense foods possible and some times you may be under and sometimes you may be over. Likely you would be under if you have had all you can eat and do not feel like eating more would be necessary for the energy required to function, and if it is over it is no big deal if the food is good whole food. If you continually under eat your body will feed on itself (muscle tissue more than anything else) and that is not good for your body at all.

Once in awhile low calorie intake is no biggie. Consistent, intentional low calorie intake is a lose for health overall. I was under-eating for a year and a half after going Paleo and it has turned out to be a big fail. I'm stuck with a loss of lbm and slowed metabolism. I thought I was eating enough but made the mistake of following MFP recommendations and even intentionally tried to eat less thinking it would help me lose weight faster. Well it did, but the results were not what I was after and now my body is very resistant to losing more stored fat. Fuel your body; even 1200 is likely far too low.

Thanks for the advice. You've both confirmed what I thought.
