Just started the Keto Diet this week, 5'5" 140lbs and 30%BF, I want to compete in Bikini next year in spring and am using it as a jump start to drop some body fat quickly,(changing up very little from the usual paleo I have adopted the last 2 months and will continue), daily goals on Keto, 1300cal, 20g carb, 100g fat, 60g protein, The only dairy I'm really including is cheese lightly and some butter, I am also having Casein Protein shakes with coconut oil for breakfast. I am doing either a light intensity elliptical workout for 30min or a 15-20min HIIT workout 5 days a week minimum (started when I started keto)
I've been on depo for 9 months now (no side effects from the shot except weight gain) But I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who is doing this diet while on the shot and if you have any bad side effects or just saw positive results. I can't seem to find anything online for this (all articles are about girls who use the pill) Please share your experience.
I've currently been on Keto for 3 days and love it. All positive so far. Just looking for advice.

You look great! Nice job. What are you using to measure you body fat %?
Also what is HIIT?

Thank you! Body Fat wise I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend that is a trainer at a private gym. They have a machine that uses electricity to measure everything, you stand on it and hold some handles and voila! super accurate body fat, weight and bmi measurements. But the pinch method works well too. (I have him do it because I don't understand the math) if you go to the 2 week challenge discussion I have a formula to calculate lean mass once you know your bodyfat so you know exactly how much bodyfat you have in lbs compared to the rest of you. I have 98lbs lean mass and 42lbs bodyfat. my goal is to be around 135lbs and 20% body fat right now.
HIIT is high intensity interval training. you can find great workouts at
dailyhiit.com if you have access to equipment and youtube has some amazing bodyweight only hiit workouts that are around 15 minutes you can also do low impact cardio for 30-40minutes as a alternate. I have a elliptical i use. (on keto is roughly the most you should do says my bf- master class trainer)0 -
Thank you! This is very helpful. I will get on youtube today! I will also check at my gym to see if one of my friends there can pinch me!

Wow, great results from just 3 days! I used to be on depo, but after having kids I have been on Merena (IUD). I didn't notice if i gained weight, I just kept running then, usually ate less and played I sports like softball, volleyball, golf and hockey.
I now only play hockey when i can, golf season is over but have joined a gym that's open pretty much 24 hrs except weekends. I recently started up with weights this summer and enjoy, but seems I can't get rid of the stubborn last 5lbs, and have since gained 5!! I feel stronger but measurements are still the same, think only lost 1/2 inch on the waist I am 130 was 125 (with the same measurements) 5' 3.
I don't use anything; no supplements, no vitamins, no shakes. I read up in this skinny pill, sounds too good to be true, can't afford body by Vi. I just don't want to pop anything into my mouth that may have potential side effects.
Seeing your results has intrigued me. I want to tone up. What supplements should I look into??0 -
just do what i'm doing northern. KETO! it cuts body fat like mad. But make sure to take a womens multi vitamin, potassium supplement and magnesium supplement. I also take bcaa's right before my workout. and only do my carb up once a week (when i carb up though I still stay withing my 1200 calorie limit if possible, but can go as far as 1900 cal) feel free to add me and message me if you want to talk more.
The "magic pill" is hard work and dedication. But Keto as I have found is as close as you can get.
I have had absolutely NO side effects from my birth control combined with keto. it's great.
here is a current update for my keto day 1 to day 9 ( day nine is 4 days after carb up)

You are doing great Edyn and thank you for sharing the photos! Ok, my next stupid question - what is a 'carb' up? I am moving towards the keto, just trying to get a bit more meals/foods lined up as I do not normally eat much meat but my carbs are much lower so I am making some progress!

a carb up is where you eat a lot of carbs (stay within your calorie limit though) in order to replenish the glycogen in your muscles. Especially if you do heavy workouts or weight lifting. I eat maybe 50-150 carbs on my carb up day. I try to stay at the lower end though as my body wont get completely thrown out of ketosis with only a 50 carb day (as opposed to my normal 10-15 carb days) I do notice swelling the day after as water in your body also attaches to carbs. but that is gone within 2 days after the carb up. As I said before you should be a ble to find a abundance of websites with vegetarian options for your regular days. vegetables themselves (ex. cauliflower) have low carbs that when combined can blow your keto so be careful. I usually get my daily carbs in with veggies for lunch but never more than 16g carbs per day. I do rice or bread on carb day usually with veggies on carb day. I try to stay away from sugar if possible on carb days.

Its so hard to get into keto. Trying to maintain lower than 50 carbs is difficult enough and gets frustrating. But I'll try my best to move towards it, I've lowered my carbs to stay under 100 on the past week, with workouts and half lost 1lb and half an inch of my waist. I can't afford to get much as Of yet, but will get on with the bcaas soon just using multivitamins at the moment.0

bcaa's are not a requirement. i take them simply because they help with my weight training. but i find it easy. I do a protein shake(with 1 tbsp coconut oil for fat content) and some sausage or bacon for breakfast (recommended serving only) breakfast is usually around 5-6 carbs, I may do eggs instead of protein shake, then I have vegetables for lunch depending on hunger its 4-8 carbs (i love cauliflower for lunch) and for dinner I have a bacon cheeseburger with no bun (70/30 beef). and if i have some calories leftover i may have a bedtime snack of an additional protein shake (or eggs or a meat with protein is good), but its rare. the key to the carb drop is this. NO GRAINS, NO LEGUMES, NO NUTS, while peanut butter is ok as a add on instead of coconut oil in a protein shake don't eat more than a serving per day (if you eat it at all) those three things getting cut out make a huge difference. the trouble for most people is grains. But after the first week or so the carb cravings subside and it's smoother sailing. Don't forget one day a week you get to carb up and eat fun. my goal is always to stay within 100 carbs and my 1200 calories regardless thoguh. on average I eat between 10-20 carbs a day. with my eating its pretty simple.0

I did Atkins induction and working out 2 hours a day 6 days a week for 4 months a couple years ago. I found it way too hard to maintain. I lost forty pounds of pregnancy weight but I also had 1-2 cheat days a month. I still keep carbs at about 150g or less but keeping my carbs at 20g was killer. Kudos to you if you can manage it.0

Oh and depo made me gain about 10 lbs in two months when I was a teen. It sucked along with the other side effects. My body does not respond well to any forms of birth control.0
