artificial sweeteners

Hi all.
In the past I really had munches in the evening and my thought were around food all day long.
Then I cut all the artificial sweeteners out of my diet.
The cravings have gone and I feel quicker full. Also I lost weight and don't feel hungry.
Had anyone the same experience?

For some people, artificial sweeteners stimulate appetite, making you crave more sweet stuff. Good for you for stopping them!0

Couldn't agree more - except that it goes much further than "...some people" and just artificial sweeteners.
"Real" sugar, artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, carbs in general, and ESPECIALLY HFCS, ALL have the same metabolic effect on "most" people for very well defined (and researched) reasons.
Incidentally, a recent (within the last day or so) study was released by Boston University and if initial press reports are accurate, it demonstrates a 4+ year decrease in life expectancy for those consuming 20oz/day of sodas containing sugar. (disclaimer - I haven't seen the actual study and initial press reports are notorious for publishing "facts" taken out of context so TIFWIW)
For anyone interested in learning more about the whole sugar "debate" - this is a pretty good place to start:

Thanks for your replies. I just found an interesting article on diet-doctor. I have read that artificial sweeteners do not increase insulin but nobody has done any research whether they do reduce blood ketones. The guy did a n1 experiment. Although it's not a real research it could explain it. According to his self-experiment his blood-ketone did go down after drinking only 1 can of diet pepsi. Here is the link for those who are interested0

I did the same, not sweeteners for the first month. I now enjoy a Coke Zero daily, but nothing like the amount I use to drink.
Now I do have cravings if I eat too many SAs in a meal bar or some low carb junk food. So they are limited.
