11 days until my first real hike on the Appalachian trail!! It will be a cold overnight trip into George Washington National Forest in Virginia. This weekend we secured warm base layer clothing and starting creating our menus. Yesterday I ordered our trail map and an environmental guide! So Excited to finally be hiking the AT!!!

    10 Days and counting! Received my trail map and environmental guide today. Can't wait to start reading up on the area! I love how fast Amazon is : )

    8 Days and counting. We have planned our route... a12.2 mile loop starting at Massie Gap. We've printed backpacking checklists from REI last night and started gathering our stuff together. I'm starting to get a little nervous :#

    7 days and counting. Checked the weather forecast and it doesn't look good. They're calling for 30 degree highs and snow, which we're really not prepared for. I'm hoping the forecast will change. We'll have to wait and see.
