The biggest challenge is to add back a lot of fat to the diet- we are brainwashed into believing that fat is not good. MyFitnessPal will give you the advantage of tracking the macronutients and you will discover that it is easy to cut the carbs way down, but hard to build up the fat number. The other mistake is to eat too much protien- any excess protien not needed by the body for repair and growth, ends up being converted to sugar by the liver, and then to body fat if not burned. The key- very high fat (even satuarted fat is OK), MODERATE Protein, and very low carb. Good luck!~0

About 6lbs in 2 months. I'm not super far from goal, and I have PCOS, so it takes a lot of work for me to lose.0

im at 9 days in. ive lost 6 lbs. this is not a trend that can continue, however..the super fast loss in the beginning slows, as very low carbing tends to curb hunger, making it easier for me to eat less calories overall. im still waiting for this to occur. i know it will, it has worked before. i had the dreaded 'carb creep' last go 'round, which is why im back.0

I started June 9th - I'm down 33 lbs.0

I started keto/lchf towards the end of September, so I am about 8 weeks in and down 12.4 lbs. Prior to that, I was doing low fat, calorie restriction and heavy exercises and in 6 months I lost 23.5. I find keto/lchf is much easier for me, almost effortless as long as I watch my carbs.
volfan22, your change is striking!! I really wish I had taken before pics, as we've lost about the same amount, but I don't see the change being as significant as yours. Great work!!0 -
Hi Lisa, you'll love it and your body too!
Two months, 20lbs. Not terribly happy about it because I have a lot to lose and we read success stories of so much more. But I have diabetes so losing anything at all is a victory. And I'm feeling much better and my lab results have improved dramatically. It may take some more time than I was expecting but it works.0 -

In this journey I have learned that measurements mean so much more than the scale. I have only lost 33 lbs in 6 months (and I have 30 more to lose) - BUT - I went from a size 16 to a 12 in pants. Don't get discouraged by the scale - you are changing whether you see it or not!

I've lost 18.6lbs since starting keto on October 14th. I however, had already lost 80.7lbs preior to that, starting April 18th, 2014.0

Started Aug 29th (almost 12 weeks) ago, Lost approx.: 37 lbs. That included some water fasting. That also included a (4) week stall. So average about 3 lbs @ week.

Been doing keto (pretty badly) since 9/22, and have lost 21 pounds. I've had exactly 9 horrible days since I started (cheese steaks with buns, gravy fries, mozzarella sticks, CAKE) that have set me back, but I try not to think about what could be if I hadn't. Just gotta KCKO!0

Started keto towards the end of March 2014, down 95 pounds.0

I started the beginning of August and have lost 14 pounds. That is lower weight loss than most. I have pcos and my body really doesn't want to lose any weight.0

60 pounds in 11 months, its slowed a LOT in the last few months after a fairly fast start. I haven't been quite as diligent about counting calories and weighing things though and have made other changes that are healthier for me but mess with my appetite a lot. Still have 40 to go, as long as I don't put any weight back on though I'm content to get there a little more slowly.0

I have lost 40 pounds in 4 months.0

I'm down about 51 pounds. How long? Gosh, I don't really remember. I didn't really notice when I hit my goal weight. I've been approaching it slowly and without concern for a while. Things slowed down. But, I averaged over a pound a week for most of the time. So, probably about 9-10 months. I was in no rush, and I didn't stress about how quickly it happened.
I've been eating this way for over a year now. I am into my 14th month (I think). I plan on eating this way forever, so I stopped counting days or paying too much attention to things like losing the last few pounds quickly. They'll come off at their own rate.0 -
i have lost 24 pounds in 3 months0

12 lbs in a month, including a 4 lb gain & re-loss thanks to a serving of evil bread pudding0

I have been a discipline dieter for about 14 months. lost more on keto in 4 months than in the previous 8 months of calorie restriction. 14kg in 4 months (about 30lbs).0

Okay, I'm going to ask. What happens to the loose skin? Does it shrink? I know it doesn't all go away but is it a problem for anyone?0

I have only been on it for about a month, still trying to balance my %, My carbs are still too high,(can not seem to let go of fruit, going to cut down to 2 a day, then work my way to two a week.) I have no problem with bringing my fats up! I got that. have a little problem bringing my protein up to the right %. Not a big protein eater.
But the best thing I did learn on this diet is the importance of fats! and the dangers of sugars!! kudos to keto guys for bringing it to the forefront and which fats are healthy.
Doing it right this time going to find the best balance for me, and Love myself
My best advice for you would be, listen to as many people who have been there and done it, and got the T-shirt, but their T-shirt might not fit you, you need to hear the whisper of your own body. Love & peace, Grace
ps: and log everyday, that helps you see things you would not believe about your eating!!
and Congrats to all victors on this weight loss & gain health, journey, cheers to all of you
And the rest of us still on this journey, May God grant us the love and the strength to complete our journey and achieve victory.0 -
I have lost 61 lbs since June 17th!!! My husband hasn't lost as much but his A1C levels are back within normal range. This is our new way of life. Yes, even at 50 you can make changes to better your life!!0

From 10/16 to 11/14 I lost 8 pounds on the Mayo diabetes diet, but my blood glucose didn't really drop much at all. So I decided to try keto. Since then I've lost another 21 pounds. The weight has literally been falling off me even though I eat about 1800 calories a day and don't feel deprived. Best of all, my blood glucose levels are now in the 80-95 range and don't spike at all.0

I am 55 years old and I weighed 205 pounds on January 2, 2014 and on October 8, 2014 I hit 140 pounds. So 65 pounds in 9 months. I'm VERY happy! I've been good at maintaining it, too, even with pigging out at Thanksgiving. I go up a little, down a little, but I pretty much stay around 140 now.
The best part is I no longer take any medication for high blood pressure (because I don't have high blood pressure now!) and my cholesterol numbers are perfect. I will never go back to eating carbs like I used to. I don't miss them and I realize that all they did was make me sick.
My advice to you is eat more fat (I still stay at 75%) and drink more water than you think you will ever be able to hold. Water is key to flushing all the garbage out.
I'll answer the "loose skin" question. IT STARTS TO SHRINK!!!! I never thought that at my age I would have a flat stomach again but it's there. The fat goes first and you are left with floppy skin, but little by little it will tighten itself up. Read this http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1444061/loose-skin-my-experience and you'll see how it works.1 -

Thanks for answering the question as well as providing a link to even further explanation! Congratulations on your success.0 -
I started September 29th on Keto and lost 10lbs (20lbs) total starting back in April. However, I've dropped 3 sizes and fitting in pants when I weighed 20lbs less than I am now. It's better for me to pay more attention to BF% than weight. I'm now at 25.5%; goal is somewhere between 20-22%.0

I'm not quite there yet with my own weight loss but I've seen this discussed a ton in progress/success posts on various subreddits, and the answer seems to be "it depends and varies heavily for each individual". Some folks that lose a ton end up needing (or choosing) surgery to fix it in the end. Apparently the younger you are the more likely it is to resolve itself on its own quicker, but lots of older (relatively) people that have lost large amounts of weight end up with just a little loose skin and its not a big deal.
I hate unknowns and hate not knowing whether this will be a problem for me and hate knowing that there is little I can do about it, it'll either happen or it won't, but every time I think about it enough to look it up that does seem to be the answer.0
