Hi there, I am new to this group. I started to attend some meetings in my area and I am looking for some support and accountability. I am working on my meal plan from the pamphlet Dignity of Choice, however I think I might tweak it a little bit. (not sure if that is okay or not; doing things my way got me here ;) ). I have struggled with food since I was a kid and really would like to make a change in my relationship with food. I am looking forward to seeing what this group is about.

Welcome, Sara! People utilize OA all different ways, but I totally agree with "doing things my way got me here." I wanted to stop overeating but I just couldn't! I went to some face-to-face meetings locally, but didn’t find people wanting to sponsor others. Help and a sponsor came when I found some OA phone meetings that stick to the Alcoholic Anonymous original book - called the big book. (The AA big book is the first 12-step program that all other 12-step programs are based on, so really, no other OA book/materials are needed to overcome overeating). It has helped me fully understand my condition, what to do about the emotional reasons for overeating, and has given me a solution that works. If you are hopeless and at your wits end, you've got nothing to lose. I am a recovered sponsor and would be happy to help. Let me know if there are any questions I can answer... either here or you can private message me.
