Hey all! I've been taking lots of naps! I have been trying to count my calories. But friends from church are bringing us meals this week and I am having problems figuring out the calorie count. But I'm trying to keep a general idea.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday! I'm looking forward to more naps and such. I have been doing a lot of reading. I've read through 4 books so far, and working my way through a reread of the Hobbit. So that's helped.0 -
Rainy day at home w/both kids today (no school today). Took son to tutor and hit gym for shoulders/hips, but also added quads & hamstrings, which I think I will add every workout now. I usu put a rest day between workouts, so why not? It burns more cals and I'm really trying to get my legs strong and muscular instead of weak and spongy. Got my steps today too.
Rethinking some things. I just don't seem to be getting anywhere with the way things are. Not sure what to change.0 -
Val, I really like Marian Keyes books if you need a good read.
Sherry, have you read Eat, Move, Sleep? Great book about making small changes that add up.
Slept in again today, ugh. Had healthy meals and, sadly, barely got in any steps.

Welcome back Val! Figuring out calories in food someone else has prepared is impossible. For now just focus on getting better & generally some portion control. You can worry about the rest of it later. In the meantime I am not jealous of your recovery but I am jealous of your naps! Enjoy them!
Sherry I think consistency is key. That doesn't mean you have to be perfect all the time - and your schedule seems to get thrown off all the time - but setting a plan and trying to be as consistent as possible should get you the best results. Maybe make some smaller time commitments for now and really focus on those, then add on as you're able. Have "no excuses" options that you can substitute at home if need be.
I realized today I haven't gotten in 10,000 steps since last Tuesday. Taking a running break has certainly taken a toll on my step count! Last night instead of my run I did rowing machine/Jacobs Ladder intervals for my warm-up, then the stair stepper afterward. I get some steps on that and my legs were getting a workout, but I getting fewer steps than I would be walking. This morning I got on my bike trainer before work. Walked with my friend at lunch today so I'm at 10,150 steps right now.
I'm supposed to be swimming. I came home instead. I enjoy it once I get in the pool, but man it's a battle to get myself to go. I have to pay extra because my gym doesn't have a pool so I have to buy a day pass + pay parking, during the week I never know how busy it's going to be (Friday nights when I typically go it's pretty quiet), and I was just tired. I just need to make that a "no excuses" activity.0
