Fibromyalgia .. and less pain

Many times I've lost down to 149.. and a few times 145lbs .. then inside of a week I was back to 150 and before I knew it 160 became 200 .. Eating less doing more, just didn't work .. because eventually I wasn't eating less and felt too bad to DO anything.
I reached my goal weight on 10/27 and have remained below it except twice when I was AT it .. I haven't been thinking, "Oh I'm fine now, let me add some chips to my sandwich" because I just have things I don't eat anymore. I don't eat bread, or desserts (except my little low carb chocolate). I have lost my taste for them, really because I know the consequences in my body.
I have fibromyalgia and there were so many days that it literally hurt to put one foot in front of the other. This year, in my LHCF and at least 10,000 steps (no excuses) life, I have had exactly 2 major attacks... 2 not 2 a week or every time it rains or the weather changes .. 2
Both of those I can link back to eating a lot more carbs than usual (one recently after Thanksgiving). The few moderate attacks were linked to NOT doing my 10000 steps.
I know that this is just anecdotal, but it is my truth.

kkimpel that is an awesome report of your results.
My 40 year problem has been arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis) with IBS. Over the last several months I have lost 12 pounds but my pain level has dropped from 7-8+ most days to 2-3 on a 1-10 scale daily. Tried that Carb Nite thing two weeks ago and pain shot up to 5 and I was shown how bad I use to feel eating carbs. Trying to do <50 grams daily. Now that I know how to manage MY pain my diet I am counting calories more so I can work on the weight. When I have pain of 7-8+ weight loss is hard to make Job #1.
By the way I have found what works well for me may be wrong for another so we just have to keep at it to find a solution that meets our personal needs.
Thanks again for your story.0 -

Couldn't agree MORE!!!!
KKim & GH are the "poster children" (shining examples) of not only WHY LCHF (in its many forms) is so much more than "just" a weight loss diet and why it's all the "other" (health) factors that matter SO MUCH MORE.
Yes, of course the weight loss is a "contributing factor" to many of the positive benefits each of them have experienced.
But people can lose weight on "any diet" (sooner or later and if they stick with it).
The difference is the physiological and metabolic changes that occur specifically because one adopts the LCHF tenants (the "basics") and even moreso for those who elect to become/maintain a Fat Adapted level of ketosis.
KKim & GH - thank you both for detailing what I hope will become the obvious - sooner rather than later. Both of your "success stories" put what is really important in proper focus.
So too do they reiterate the point that in addition to the "compliance" struggles along the way (and ongoing), true success requires monitoring and, equally importantly, gaining an understanding of what your body is trying to tell you along the way and reacting to those ques appropriately. For some that means long term FA for others "just" LCHF maintenance - matters not as long as it is what "works" for that individual in THEIR particular circumstances.
And just so it's clear, nothing here is intended to disparage in ANY WAY, those who elect to pursue LCHF ONLY to lose weight (or to suggest that they aren't welcome here or don't matter). At the same time though, even for those who don't "currently" have any of the "issues" so many of us DO have to deal with, they "might" find, down the road, that their decision to go LCHF was indeed a wise one for reasons having nothing to do with "just" weight loss. (That's the type of "I told you so...." I would have no problem owning <g>).
All the standard "what works for one....." disclaimers apply, of course - but NONE of them detract one iota from the CONGRATS and thanks due these two stellar examples of WHY LCHF matters a whole lot more than "just" weight loss.
CONGRATS, and,
THANK YOU
(or is it "youzze"?) <VBG>

Kim & Gale,
It's fascinating how changing your eating affects your entire body. There is so much that is still to be learnt and understood about how intricately bodily processes are interlinked and interdependent.
Thank you both for sharing.0 -
Great post! I am glad you both are doing so well!0

It seems to me that if I stay under around 75g for carbs (maintenance) that I have less pain. than when I creep past that. Then I need a warm bath and an advil0
