Hello everyone!! Christmas is almost here, we are in the home stretch!

This week I have very low goals, and next week too....but come the 27th, I will be going full force with better goals and really pushing the working out.

Goals this week:

1. Try not to binge due to stress while my daughter is home.....I had an unpleasant convo with her last week that caused a two day binge...so if I can focus on this instead of trying to overload myself with logging and such....hopefully I can win this....

2. To try and get proper sleep which will help with stress as well

How about everyone else?? |What are your goals this week?

Man, I am really gonna need to support part this next two weeks, lol

This is always a difficult week at work (the last before our 2 weeks for winter Break); the students struggle with unrealistic expectations for the holidays, knowing that they won't have the predictable routines of school over break, and the frustration that they can't do much about it. So my stress level will be high as well. My goals are to use healthy coping skills--exercise, spending time with friends and family not eating, ideas from a book "50 ways to self soothe without food", food journaling. I am a stress eater so I'm going to have to concentrate on th a t. I do not eat out much but I caught myself pulling into McDonalds (I drove around the parking lot, not getting anything) after working extra hours at my part time job....clearly falling back on food to manage my distress rather than setting limits with co-workers and saying NO. Instead, I now am rushing around trying to get ready for a stressful week at school when I would be better off getting to bed early. ee
  • Last week I did pretty good with my work outs. I got up all 5 days at 4 and made it to the gym. I have to say some days I was moving slow and only got in 30 minutes. My goal is to get 45 minutes to an hour in cardio every morning. So, that is going to be goal this week is to get up and get my 45 minutes to an hour in this week. My second goal is to work on my total calories for the day. I seem to struggle on this. I think I am making good choices but in the end I have gone over my calories for the day.

Great job on the workouts, Michelle! I've been struggling lately with staying within my calories as well, so I will echo that goal. I've actually changed my goal to losing 1.5 per week instead of 2, because it's recommending that I eat 1,560 calories per day, and it just doesn't feel like enough.

Awesome meeting your workout goals; I have not been anywhere close to meeting mine. Calorie-wise I am doing fine but I only experience weight loss when I get consistent 30 - 60 minute daily workout s in. What's putting you over your calorie goals?

One of the issues I know I struggle with is late night eating, and just breaking the fast food mentality. (the combination of the 2 is downright disastrous!).
my goal for the next few weeks, is to stop eating 3 hours before bed. I've gotten to the point where I like my workouts, (I like how I feel afterwards anyway) so I'm motivated there, but it's the "oh I have only 5 min to eat, i'll run by mcdonalds" that kills me. I've been through the mcdonalds parking lot without buying anything, but it's breaking through that mentality that fast food can still be a part of my diet, and to actually plan and prepare stuff at home.

    anyone else struggle with this?
  • I know going to fast foods was hard one for me. When the family would want to go, I started to make better choices. Instead of super sizing it. I would get a salad with a side of fries, or I would get the regular size. But let me tell you one fast food place I would love to go to and I stopped going because I would want a supreme taco, supreme burrito, and nachos supreme. Then I had to log the calories and was like oh my. So, I stopped going then several months later I was like I want a taco. So, we went. Let me tell you I got so sick, my body hurt, and I didn't keep the food down. I don't know if it was because of all the fat, or all the crap they put in the food. So, I didn't crave that place any more. But once or twice a year I would be like I want. My husband will go why do you want to go because you know it makes you sick.

So, my thing is the longer you are making better food choices those cravings will start to go away, and the feeling of wanting to just drive threw will go away too. It is like an addiction you have to get past the withdrawals and it gets easier.

    Good luck.

This week has been even more stressful than I thought it would be. Tomorrow is the last day before winter break (16 days relatively stressfree). I have my breakfast, snacks and lunch all ready to be packed in the morning and my things sitting by the door. I just might start singing and dancing at 3:30 tomorrow! I've done better logging this week and I have post it's with reminders of healthy coping skills tucked in my textbooks, lesson plan book, on my computer and IPad. I had a minor meltdown this evening but I managed it without turning to food. I agree that it is a lot easier to make healthier choices than cold turkey, Michelle, especially when you want to do things with people who aren't struggling with weight, health and food issues. I've even noticed that some of the people I eat out with make healthier choices as well, wanting to be supportive.

Hope unknown_sister is okay; I know she was expecting a rough week with the holidays. Maybe we should send her some encouraging messages.

    Be well everyone!
  • This week has been a stressful week. Out of 5 days I made it to the gym in the morning 3 times. So, far I have made it to the gym everyday either in the morning or evening. I have been doing better with my calories (still need some improvements). I'm not sure how next week is going to go.

As for the fast food thing - my family eats fast food at least once a week. Two busy teenage daughters keep us running. I looked up the nutrition info for all of the places that we usually go to. That way, I have an idea in my head before we get there which menu items will keep me under my calorie goals. I don't even look at the restaurant menu. In my mind is a shorter menu to pick from at each place.

I'm going to try that this week; 3 of my friends want to meet at different places this week for lunch. Going with my meals selected before I get there will hopefully keep me focused and help avoid temptations. I gave myself 24 hours laying around in pajamas as my winter break started yesterday. Tomorrow st a arts a new motivation week. I am going to make a countdown to the new year calendar with daily mini challenges. What about you?
