Not having much luck ...

So for my last swim (after far too many cancelled due to family commitments) - my daughter and I made a big effort, going to a pool we hardly ever use that is an unattractive 30 mins walk away on a bitterly cold day.
But only the laps pool is open (boiler bust for the kiddie splash pool) and she starts doing lengths with me. The boiler was also struggling for this pool too - and after a fairly unpleasant 15 mins or so of laps in a surprisingly dirty pool I was just getting properly warm (had been wondering if my neck was going to freeze into position..!). But my poor daughter gave up as too cold - and also bored as not allowed to splash about in the serious pool.
So out I had to get out too. ...just 550m done.... Grrrr.... (Though had I realised it I could have done another 300 easily whilst she luxuriated in the poolside shower. That WAS warm!)
Never mind - these things happen and we laughed a fair bit about it.
But why - having specially booked a hotel with pool as part of our holiday travels - did all 3 of us forget our swimming cossies...?
